Restored 1974 Yosemite Yellow (BaliYellow) Westfalia 100% Rust Free Colorado Van.
Fully Restored Near Mint Condition 1974 Yosemite /Bali Yellow Westfalia. This is the "Holy Grail" of bay window buses in my opinion. Super rare interior and exterior color combination. Considered by most to be the most stunning color combination on a bay window bus. Less than 300 miles on the complete restoration and the completely rebuilt motor. Mint interior. Absolutely ZERO RUST!!! The van looks looks like it just rolled of the show room floor in 1974. The previous owners were meticulous when it came to the maintenance and general care and preservation of the van. Garaged. Stored for many years. Runs and drives exceptional. One of the best, Yosemite/Bali Yellow campers in the country.
PAINT/ BODY- This van spent its entire life in Colorado and Idaho. Due to the dry weather the van is free of rust. The van still has its original chrome dealer emblem from Colorado on the engine hatch (see picture). Brand new high quality window out paint job to its rare factory color of Yosemite/Bali Yellow (paint code L62H). New door and window seals, new windshield. The motor and transmission were pulled prior to paint. The engine bay and all relevant parts were then prepped and repainted. The pop was removed prior to paint as well. The fiberglass pop top was repainted with a high grade marine paint. The scissor pop top hinges were also repainted the factory silver finish. I had the bumpers and rims including the spare, sand blasted and powder coated to the correct factory colors. The wheels were painted to the factory correct metallic silver finish, bumpers white. No wrecks or accident history. The body and door gaps perfect. The body is arrow strait. Spotless under carriage. The front floors are perfect (see picture). The factory under coating is in great condition. Zero cancer rust, even the battery trays are perfect... The paint was recently professionally polished and buffed out to a beautiful shine.
INTERIOR- The interior is in like new mint condition. I had the front seat padding updated to a memory foam material and contoured to a factory look. It is very comfortable on long road trips. I used exact reproduction Westfalia blue plaid material and custom matched the color of the vinyl on the seat backs, sides, and door panels. I had the door panels built from scratch using the exact same vinyl on the seats (they match perfect). The sew and pleat lines on the door panels were replicated off a factory original door panel. I hired a professional upholstery shop to reupholster the front seats and door panels (they are not the cheep TMI seat covers and door panels). No expense was spared to bring the interior to authentic restored standards. The rear seat and rear cushion upholstery are original and near mint. I special ordered the green carpet to be a almost a perfect match to the original. The carpet is a high end material and weave. All of the cabinets are in near mint condition. The front rubber rubber mat still looks new. I sourced some near mint original old stock kick panels and installed them in the van. The heater works excellent. The head liner is near mint. The rear seat folds down into a bed. Nice Panasonic CD player and high end Kenwood 6x9 speakers. Updated retractable three point front seat belt upgrade from GoWesty ($270). The entire interior just received a complete and profession detail.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION- The motor was professionally rebuilt. The rebuilt engine has less than 300 miles on it. The transmission has been rebuilt as well. The motor is completely painted/detailed. The engine tins were all powder coated. The bus was updated with a progressive weber carb. The motor was updated to hydraulic valves eliminating the need to adjust the valves. The motor runs like a sewing machine. The bus cruises at 70 mph effortlessly. New heater boxes, Monza style dual exhaust, heater tubes, intake and boots, fuel filter, Weber carb, high performance coil, new plugs, cap rotor, fresh oil change, new clutch pressure plate, throw out bearing, engine seal, all fuel and vac lines, new battery. The axle cv boots are in good condition. The engine bay is absolutely spotless and looks new (see pictures). The bus runs, drives, shifts, and stops exceptional. This bus is ready for cross country driving.
POP TOP- Newer 3 window canvas. The upper bunk upholstery is in excellent condition. The fiberglass pop top was repainted. I also installed the correct replica Westfalia decals on the pop top.
BRAKES/SUSPENSION- New KYB gas shocks front and rear, new steering dampener, and drag link. The steering/steering box is tight, brakes work excellent.
OTHER- Rare mint factory Westfalia tent. Brand new Goodyear correct truck rated tires. Oil temp gauge. The factory under coating is in excellent condition. The hard to find factory window screens are included as well asthe original green Westfalia curtains including the front snap on curtain. The van comes with its original hub caps, powder coatedspare rim, original jack, reupholstered seat head rests, and bug screen.
. I will include a mint rare factory Westfalia tent if the reserve is met.
Thisrestoration wasa labor of love. Hundreds of man hours and thousands of dollars went into this build to make it one of the best in the world. This is not your average Westfalia. The bus is in near mint condition. Not many Yosemite/Bali Yellow Westfalia Campers were built making this a very rare "Holy Grail" bay window bus. One of the finest restored bay window campers on the market and one of best in the country. This van would be the perfect center piece for any VW collection, show caror a awesome daily driver.
