1970 Triumph Spitfire Additional Info:

It is so wonderful it is to offer this fun, little piece of British motoring. This is a long ad, but please be sure to read the entire thing - there is a lot of wonderful detail to cover! Let's dive right in!

Background:
The Spitfire was originally designed by one of the most prolific, talented designers in the automotive world, Giovanni Michelotti, who penned the Ferrari 166, 212, 225, 250, 330, 340, 365, Maserati 3500, 5000, Indy, Mistral and on and on and on. Pretty, and quintessentially British top down enjoyment, this roadster was incredibly successful. Lightweight, convertible and peppy, this was a mainstay for Triumph.

Let's move on to this car specifically:
This car was painted in beautiful Saffron Yellow and draped over a classic Black interior and has lived a dry life with no rot or body repair seen. She is a great driver, who shines nicely with some minor flaws that would make for a nice a great car to enjoy and drive and with which to tinker.
The Condition and Service:
Let's start on the engine and drivetrain:
-ENGINE
This engine comes to life with a turn of the key. It warms up nicely and revs beautifully. The engine was both cosmetically restored and mechanically freshened with a recent service and hums along great. Odometer reads 11,000, but I would assume it has rolled to 111,000
Check out the engine bay pics!
-TRANSMISSION
The 4 speed transmission is in good shape. The shifter has a little play and could probably use some fresh bushings to be a bit more succinct, but the gears shift well.
-SUSPENSION
Springs and shocks are in nice shape.
-BRAKES
Nice unassisted pedal, good pressure with a firm positive stop.
-STEERING
Steering feels good, no excessive play or vibrations.
Let's continue to the exterior:
-PAINT and BODY
The paint is quite nice and I would say a 7/8 out of 10. The Saffron Yellow paint has been polished and cleaned and looks glossy, wet and looks stunning with only minor flaws. There are a few touched up and untouched up chips and a couple small cracks in the paint as photoed below. No signs of any accidents or major damage.
-WHEELS/TIRES
Loads of tread on the tires and in nice shape. The wheel covers look very nice with only minor flaws. Brand new trim rings.
-BUMPERS and BRIGHT WORK
The bumpers are in wonderful shape! Chrome is in nice shape with only minor flaws.
-GLASS/WINDOWS
Not to let a pebble defeat this car, the windshield is great shape. The side and rear windows are clean and clear.

-CONVERTIBLE TOP
Nice shape, no holes, good back window. Ready for some sun on your head or a cover when raining.

-UNDERCARRIAGE:
No rust, some light surface oxidation in places, beautiful shape and no stories. Check out the pics!
Onto the cabin:
-SEATS
The original black vinyl seats are in very nice shape! A couple minor splits on the drivers seat Just wonderful original material in great shape! Really quite impressive how well it is has aged, but a great sign of the low miles! Consider time was spent to condition and preserve the vinyl as well.
-DASHBOARD
Beautiful shape with gauges working, no cracks or major flaws. The sunvisor on the drivers side sags down.
-DOOR PANELS
Original door panels in very nice shape and no major flaws. Some light wrinkling on the uppers.
-STEERING WHEEL
The wheel is in nice shape with no cracks.
-CARGO SPACE:
The rear luggage space is clean and tidy! Clean floor and nice spare.
The Experience:
This Spit is a great little driver, with lots of charm and gets loads of looks and compliments everywhere you go! She hums along, with her little burbly 4 banger revving well. The car starts right up and settles into idle quickly! She has so much character and is a great way to get into 70s British motoring. The Spitfire has a set of back seats as well which are great for the kids on a Sunday drive! Parts and information are very easy to find and would make a great car to enjoy with a son or daughter interested in tinkering as well. Nice big gauges stare at you while driving, making it easy to read your speed and rpm. These are a great alternative to the MG and Healey and Jensen of the world and have a fantastic community of those involved.
Feel free to ask me any questions at all. Residents around the world I am happy to be flexible for your arranged shipper so that you can get your new car as soon as possible. International buyers are welcome.

My standard disclaimer/mantra for any car regardless of service or price: The car is sold with no warranty. You are buying a used car. Eventually every car will break, if you find one that doesn't please let me know. I do my ABSOLUTE BEST to offer only cars that are of TOP NOTCH service. I am not a dealer, just a guy who loves Triumph (among other cars) and hope to pass along my passion and fervor for these cars. That said if ever you encounter an issue I do my best to provide advice, direction or even parts if I have them. Please understand that it is a used car and will have minor signs of use. That means please do not expect a showroom brand new car. Please adjust your expectation level to that of a 111,000 mile car, but however is above average for it's year/miles. This is good miles for Triumph of this year, but please just remember that no 111,000 mile car is perfect. It is though a clean, very nice Spitfire! Please only bid if you intend to buy. If you would like to have an Ebay 3rd party mechanic service check out the car I MORE than welcome it. Please have the car checked out before bidding and not after, if you intend to use that service. And please, if you would like to utilize this service, contact me with more than a couple days left in the auction so we can arrange schedules. Please check your local laws and registration procedures before buying. Buying over the internet can be scary sometimes! I get it, because I am an enthusiast too!! For that very reason, I am more than happy to answer every and any question you may so you know 100% what you are buying. But, please ask any and all questions ahead of purchase! It is impossible to list every pro and con on a car, I am not an inspection service. All sales are final, you are buying as-is, the sky is blue, etc, etc. Sorry to have to give the boring speech.
