1985 Toyota 4Runner, 4x4 SR5

Factory Original, 2.4L Automatic, Solid Front Axle, Garage Kept

Description

A Diamond in the Rough and Very Rare…a Colorado Original, Garage Kept, Mostly Rust Free, 1985 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 with a 2.4L 22R-E with less than 30,000 miles on the new motor. The motor was replaced with a brand new re manufactured crate motor from Jasper in 2010. The rust is 100% surface rust(see detailed photos) from the salt Colorado uses in the winter. There is no internal rust or wheel well rust.

My 4 Runner drives great! The solid front axle 4 wheel drive performs perfect. The vehicle currently needs a tune up (everything listed below) but runs great. The thermostat needs replacing (current one sticks the first time it opens, new one included). It does not leak, smoke, or make any unusual noises. The automatic transmission shifts on time through all the gears.

My 4 Runner as always been solid and tight and does everything it is supposed to do. The 4x4 engages properly. The 4x4 is great and has never let me down. I have used the vehicle for camping and driving around the mountains. It will go anywhere and has NEVER let me down. It has been 100% reliable.

-The vehicle has 264,000 miles with the motor replaced at 235,000 miles in 2010.

-The brakes are good, needs steering alignment, and probably new shocks at some point.

-Some mechanical and electrical work needed.

-Turing the key does not always engage the starter. Wire ran to bypass the issue. It has been this way since I purchased the vehicle and the issue is probably a ground contact. Vehicle starts 100% of the time.

-Air conditioning needs a belt and the heat works perfect

-All gauges show normal and accurate readings except for thermostat sticking.

-Fan speed selector does not work on 1 and 2. Speeds 3 and 4 work normally.

-CD player, Quartz clock, cigarette lighter, horn, and cruise control all have never worked since I have owned the vehicle. My guess is the problem is a fuse.

-Tires are in good condition and will need replacing soon.

-Needs left head light relay replaced. Bright lights currently unavailable and it has been this way since I purchased the vehicle.

-The interior is in good condition and needs a new rear headliner.

-Catalytic converter hollowed out.

-Needs driver door bottom window trim piece replaced.

-The rear power window goes up and down like it should but needs a new glass (sorry camping accident).

I love my 4Runner. It needs very little work to be in 100% original factory condition. It has been garage kept almost its entire life and even had the factory carpet on the dashboard when I bought it. I will be moving soon and that is the reason I am selling it. It looks amazing. I have tried to detail everything I am aware of that needs work. I want the buyer to be aware of everything with no surprises. It runs and drives very well! The new owner will be very happy.

I have been asked about the road worthiness of my 4Runner. In my opinion I would trust it 100% on any road trip. With that said please keep in mind that it will need items like new tires soon and it is not the most comfortable to drive on the highway. Remember it was made when the speed limit was 55mph. Its loud because of the missing rear glass but it also drives like a box and you will feel every little bump. I have driven it on a 1,200 mile road trip and it performed perfectly. I'm just trying to be as informative and honest as possible for the new owner. Thanks and good luck bidding.
