1981 Toyota Other Additional Info:

I am selling my 1981 Toyota short-bed pickup with 140,000 miles and no rust. It has a factory sun roof, wing windows, 5 speed transmission, 4x4, new interior and professionally done Rhino Liner based paint job. It is in Amazing shape and ready to go. I bought this truck in 2009 and have been perfecting it over the years.
When I bought it the truck was in solid shape but had faded paint and very MINOR rust starting in the bed. In 2012 I had all the body work done on the truck by a local professional custom auto body company. They removed the bed and completely stripped the paint off of it, blasted any rust, then put a layer of industrial grade epoxy paint on it and finally Rhino Lined every inch of the bed. The cab and frame had zero rust so they just sanded the faded paint and fixed a couple dings then Rhino Lined the whole cab even including the under side of the hood. After that they top coated the Rhino Liner with an HD UV resistant layer to ensure there will be no fading; This makes it super easy to clean off and gives it a really bright, glossy finish. I also had the nerf bars and front bumper Rhino Lined black at the same time. Its been almost 5 years and the truck still looks as stunning as when the work was finished.
It has a 6 inch lift with Rancho shocks and 35x14.5x15 Super Swamper Radials with almost full tread. It has a 2.25" exhaust with flowmaster muffler.Everything on the steering and suspension (minus U joints in steering shaft) have been replaced or rebuilt on this truck in the last 6 years including a brand new steering box.
The interior of the truck has been completely redone.New carpet 2013New seal on original factory installed sun roof 2013Re upholstered seat 2014New stereo with aux input, Sony xplode amp, 4 Sony 6"x9" speakers 2015New headliner 2016New door panels 2016New windshield with windshield seal 2017
In 2016 I had to replace the engine. Unfortunately the original was not in rebuild-able shape and the quality original Toyota ones are no longer available from the factory so I did the next best thing and put an engine in it out of a 1986 Toyota motorhome with only 58,000 miles on it (I have video of the odometer in the motorhome working if you would like to see it). This engine is original Toyota workmanship with such low miles that it's barely broken in so it isn't questionable quality. Also, when I installed the motor I made several upgrades including:LCE long tube headerLCE webber carbLCE offerhouser intake manifoldLCE plugs, wiresNew distributorNew water pumpLCE timing chain with stainless steel guidesNew clutch and flywheelNew radiatorLCE silicone Radiator hosesLCE block off plate kitDigital air/fuel ratio gauge with wide-band 02 sensorExtremely accurate temperature gauge so you can know exactly what temperature the engine is runningLCE fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, and pressure gauge
I have driven just over 2,000 miles in it since the new engine was installed.
I've put so much into this truck over the past few years that I'm sure there are other upgrades I made that aren't listed.
The only issues are 2 minor dents in the tailgate (see photo where I circled them), the horn can take a couple pushes to honk, and the dome light sometimes takes a little fiddling with the switch for it to turn on.
No known mechanical issues whatsoever. This truck is extremely reliable, has been mechanic-owned for the past 2 owners (over 10 years), and could easily be a daily driver. However, please keep in mind that it is a 36 year old vehicle, and as such is sold "as is" with no warranty whatsoever. Inspection before bidding is welcomed, however the inspector will have to come to the vehicle.
The winning bidder will need to make a $500 deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of auction's end, and the remainder of the winning bid will need to be delivered via bank wire transfer or cash in person 10 days of auction's end. Once the funds have been received, the truck and title will be available to the new owner. Local pickup is fine; otherwise the buyer will be responsible for arranging shipping and for all associated shipping costs. I will be happy to help with shipping and or pickup, however please pick the vehicle up in as timely manor as possible. If you suspect the vehicle will be picked up/ shipped more than 10 days after auction end please contact me and we can discuss.
Questions are very welcome.
Thank you and happy bidding!
