West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional example of this very rare restored original Arizona, now residing in California but still titled in Arizona and please note not CA smog legal, 1977 Toyota Landcruiser 4.2L 6 Cylinder 4WD in the most desirable rigid FJ40 2 Door hardtop body-style and loaded with rare and very desirable options of air conditioning, power steering, power disc brakes and a winch and with no history of any rust or signs of any body work or indeed of having ever been off-road!
The Toyota Landcruiser is the longest running series for Toyota and certainly one of the finest true off road 4WD full size sport utility vehicles ever built and a legendary performer in the harshest of settings as proved through extensive testing by Toyota in the Australian outback, notorious for extreme temperatures and terrain and where it became hugely popular and Australia's best selling full size body on frame four wheel drive vehicle ever! Production started in 1954 and by 1973 over 300K Landcruisers had been sold worldwide; a true testament of their legendary capabilities! It was produced as a convertible, a Hardtop, a Station Wagon and there was a Utility Truck version.
This particular example is a beautifully restored 1977 FJ40 2 Door Hardtop with a 2" lift and with the odometer reading 41,081 miles. The FJ40 series is an iconic and classic series and these trucks are now being sought after like never before with restored and loaded models like this one prized by enthusiasts internationally. The FJ40 series (1960-83) initially sported a 3.9L 6 cylinder engine and 1975 was the first year of the larger and more powerful 4.2L 2F version. The FJ40 finally had low range gearing but continued with a 3 speed main gearbox.
This particular example was recently purchased from it's most recent southern California owner and has obviously always been well maintained and serviced, reportedly never off-road and meticulously stored with no damage - babied all the way!
The 'Dark Blue' color paint is in exceptional condition and there is no history of any rust whatsoever anywhere on the truck. The black vinyl front seats and rear fold-away 'jump seats' are in beautiful condition with virtually no signs of any wear, apart from a very minor tear in one rear jump seat cushion (see photos below).
This well maintained truck runs very strong, the transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the temperature always remains cool - drives exactly like such a well maintained vehicle should!
You will look long and hard to find a finer example of this increasingly desirable and legendary FJ40 series Toyota Landcruiser in the rigid 2 door hardtop body-style with a removable hardtop and drop down windshield for the ultimate 'Safari' style 4x4 and with this particular model having been fully restored with a 2" lift with no history or signs of any accidents or rust and only owned by obviously very careful and mature owner's since new!
