1990 Subaru Other GL Additional Info:
Well loved family vehicle needs new owner. Was owned by a dear family friend since new, I remember driving this car in high school. I bought it not long ago to be replaced as my daily driver and it has served me well. My wife and I bought a truck to do work on our home so the Justy needs a new home. It gets a lot of attention and is fun to drive. We are hoping to find a Subaru enthusiast to continue getting the Justy back into shape! It gets 35-40MPG combined around town and 65MPH on the freeway.
Exterior: Paint is in good condition for the age. I washed it but have not waxed or buffed the paint (I don't think this second part has ever been done). There are some minor scuffs and dents on the body and bumpers but it is in overall excellent condition. No rust besides very minor surface rust on the driver fender where it looks like the previous owner attempted a rust repair. The windshield has a crack but NOT in front of the driver. It has aftermarket fog lights but they are not hooked-up to any switch.
Interior: All accessories work except for the rear defrost. It might work but the indicator in the dash does not illuminate. There are some interesting repair to holes in the door panels done with foil tape and wood that are functional. There is a hole in the carpet under the pedals from normal use. The drivers seat has a tear at the seam that has been mended (functionally, not pretty), there is a crack in the dash, the rear seats have a tear at the top and there are minor stains, and other evidence of use around the cabin. There is also a small tear in the headliner that has been there for several years. It has a CD player from a Subaru Forester circa 2003.
Engine: Engine was rebuilt by my friends brother about 30k miles ago, but several years ago. It was leaking quite a bit of oil when I got it. I replaced the spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, distributor cap/rotor, fan belt, and some seals around the distributor and most of the oil leaking stopped. It still leaks some oil from the valve cover gasket (included) and around the oil pan. I estimate about 1 quart of oil is leaking (evidence in my driveway is 1-2 drops per day) between each 3000 mile oil change. The engine runs great and has excellent power for how small it is. After I replaced the seals in the distributor, it began dying at random at stoplights. I believe this is due to the timing being off. I advanced the timing as far as it would go and this has solved the issue but it still runs a bit rough at idle sometimes. If it idles at 1000rpm it is fine, but below that it shakes. There is an interesting custom intake system that is on this car that makes a nice noise, and doesn't leak air.
I have a lot more photos and YouTube videos I can send to anyone interested.
The clutch was replaced around the same time as the engine and it shifts quite well.
Other: Tires, brakes and suspension are in excellent condition.
Title is clear and in my name.Overall, it is a reliable and inexpensive form of transportation that will get you where you need to go. I have records for MOST items, but not all. Shop manual also included.
Please note: This car has a 5-digitodometerso when Iregisteredthe car in my name, I marked "exceeds mechanical limits" which causes an issue with Autocheck (you may check with them on this as well.)
I will help with shipping details as best as I can but buyer is responsible for picking up the vehicle within 2 weeks after the auction ends.
Happy bidding!
