1928 Studebaker Erskine Additional Info:

Very nice, well preserved, original old Erskine !!!These cars are very very rare as accordingly to the Studebaker Registry, there are less than 12 1928 Studebaker Erskine 2 door models known or registered. I had intended on doing a full restoration on this car but decided not to as too much of the car is in very nice original condition. It has been repainted once many years ago, 1960's. All the mechanicals were looked at closely and found to be in very nice working condition representing a very low mileage car. The odometer reads 17,000 and this could very well be original miles. The rear end is nice and tight, transmission shifts beautifully, clutch smooth as silk, steering excellent, brakes excellent, engine purrs, radiator very clean, all lights work and doors / jump seat solid. The jump seat, which is leather, is in very nice condition with no rips, tears or cracking. The interior seat looks excellent but does not match the jump seat material. I'd suspect it has been recovered but it does match the interiors material around the rear deck and rear windows so maybe the interior is original and the jump seat was reupholstered. The chrome is in fair shape with some pitting and bubbling. The roof looks to be original and has a few spots where it has torn a couple inches at the edge where it meets the metal. I have driven this car last week over 100 miles and its proven itself to be worthy of a daily driver. Erskine models are Studebakers top of the line models and were named so after the President of Studebaker during that era. This is a great opportunity to purchase a very nice old Studebaker and use occasionally for vintage car shows and summertime touring.Payment is due within 7 days of auctions end by cashiers check or cash. Checks must clear prior to picking up the car or shipping. I can store the car in a climate controlled garage until the snow flys, November.

The door panels are very clean, no rips, tears or rot. The two small glove box doors, located at each end of the dash, have the wood grain covering peeling at the edges. The roof looks like it's the original material and has some cracking and splitting. This roof material has been touched up along the edges with some type of clear caulk. " The roof does leak and is not rain worthy ". There are two leather belts that secure the spare tire, they are still in decent shape, not split or torn, not sure if those are original. The moto meter does have the red mercury in it and it does work. Tires, tubes and rim protectors are new, less than 500 miles on them, 4.75/5.00 X 20 tire size. The spark plugs look very good, not fouled or oily, nice tan color as should be for a correct running engine. Oil pressure very good, volt/amp is missing the needle, not sure if the gas gauge is working right as it doesn't seem to move. The engine is the original Continental 9F six cylinder 40HP.
