1960 Studebaker Additional Info:

The truck is a 1960 Studebaker Champ 5E-7 1/2 ton pick up. Painted head-turning yellow color, his is a real beauty and has won several audience choice awards at local classic car shows. This truck has been restored by myself from a much worse condition, nd it is ready to "turn key and drive away". Come up and have a look and a test drive, verything is as it looks in the photos. If you have any questions please feel free to email them and I will write you back immediately. Below are the details of the truck and a list of the improvements I have made: Truck has a Studebaker 289 V8 engine. 4 speed with a low 1st gear. Truck got 18 mpg on recent trip to Ocean Shores. I've had the truck for 5 years. It has a Washington State collector's plate so no annual license fees (in Washington). In 1960 Studebaker was the first manufacturer to offer a sliding rear cab window. This truck has that option. I drove the truck 5000 miles until the original SW speedometer failed four years ago with 46000 miles showing (but perhaps it was really 146000 - no way to tell). I replaced it with a period correct SW speedometer and have driven it nearly 13000 miles since then. So actual mileage is unknown. Truck is basically stock but improvements have been made for driveability. Everything works. Has manual steering. Added disc brakes. Truck is a daily driver and I have used it for hauling furniture and for dump runs. I have had it up to 80 mph many times on the freeways but it likes 60 mph and is more comfortable at that speed. What I have done in the last 5 years: Replaced broken windshield. Replaced failed speedometer with new. Had failed original radiator re-cored and re-installed. Engine temperature is controlled and normal. Added overflow coolant tank to radiator. Replaced original Carter carb with Edelbrock carb. Old carb will come with the truck. Replaced water pump with new pump. Replaced fuel pump with new pump. Replaced failed generator with new alternator. Generator will come with the truck. Replaced broken after market radio with new stereo radio/tape player/aux connection (for iPod). Replaced old single speaker with two new speakers for true stereo. Replaced most of the wiring. Added Turner disc brakes to the front. Original drums and wheel cylinders will come with truck. Overhauled rear drums/cylinders. Replaced original low gears in differential with new 3.11 gears, or better mileage (installed by Randy's in Everett). Low first gear still there for pulling stumps. Minor body rust fixed and truck painted five years ago. Floor had a few rust holes - new sheet metal was welded in and underside of driver's side of cab was covered in metal epoxy to waterproof/prevent further rust. Has held up very well - no new rust. Old exhaust replaced with new, rom headers back. Ratty carpet replaced with vinyl flooring. Gearshift boot replaced. Non-functioning switches replaced with after market, xcept for wiper switch. Couldn't find functioning original replacements at the time. Truck came with a small driver's side plastic mirror. Replaced with left/right NOS 1970s Junior West Coast truck mirrors, rom eBay. Replaced broken and failed tail lights with new, 950 style Pontiac LED tail lights. Truck did not come with original side mount tail lights. Also did not come with back up lights or rear bumper. Installed new, ruck mounted spare tire. Heavy duty jack and some basic hand tools are stowed behind seat and will come with truck. Added a new dash mounted fan - a "Champ" found on eBay. Added electrical outlet to dash. Added an interior light mounted under driver side of dash (did not come with an interior light). Added windshield washer system (did not come with one from the factory).
