1966 Sheby GT350 Tribute Track Car Located near PORTLAND, OREGON This car began life on May 4, 1966 at the Ford Dearborn plant as a 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback with 289 V8. In 1989, the previous owner set out to create a Sheby Tribute track car for vintage racing events. The following was done at that time and upgraded as noted: Engine: • Engine replaced with a 1965 Ford 289 V8 bored to .040 over standard. • Flat top pistons with 10.5:1 compression • Rods were shot peened and polished. • 1965 Heads ported and polished • New screw-in head studs. • Stainless steel oversized valves • Solid Lifters • Factory Ford Hi-Po camshaft C30Z6250C. • New valve guides and springs. • Boss 302 6 quart oil pan with baffles. • Double roller closed timing set. • Factory Ford Hi-Po high volume oil pump. • Harmonic Balancer replaced in 2014. Cooling System: • 4-Row Radiator with Edelbrock AC Water Pump. Induction: • Holley 670 CFM Street Avenger carburetor. Electric choke. • Ford Motorsports AC High-Rise Intake Manifold. Ignition: • Factory Ford Hi-Po Dual Point Distributor C50Z21217E. Exhaust: • Tri-Y Headers. 2-1/2" collector to 2-1/4" pipes through Thrush Mufflers. Drivetrain: • Schaefer Clutch installed in August, 2014. • CNC hydraulic clutch master cyliner and stainless steel sleeved slave cylinder. • 1988 Mustang T5 5-Speed Manual Transmission - Rebuilt August, 2014. • New Driveline. Rear End: • 1966 Shelby 9" with 3.89:1 ratio built in August, 2014. • Eaton Trutrac Limited-Slip Differential. • Fatman 31-spline Axles. Chassis/Suspension Front: • Global West upper and lower A arms. Springs cut aprox. 3/4 coil. • Lower A arm relocated 1 inch lower per Shelby specs. • Global West adjustable strut rods. • Koni shock absorbers. • 1 inch sway bar. • Quick rato steering kit. • Global West Frame Connectors. • Export Brace. • Monte Carlo Bar. Rear: • Mustangs Plus Grab-a-rac #679 "mid" Leaf Springs. • Shelby Overmount Traction Bars. • Koni shock absorbers. Brakes: • Factory Ford Hi-Po heavy duty master cylinder with proportionng valve. • Front: Summit Racing disc brake rotors and calipers - 2014. • Rear: Rebuilt in 2014 with mid-1960's Ford Galaxie 11"x2-1/2" drums. Body/Interior: • Repainted in Wimbeldon White with Shelby Blue Stripes. • Functional side/rear brake cooling scoops. • Fiberglass Hood with Scoop. • Fiberglass Front Valance. • 4-Point Roll Bar. • FloFit Seats with 4-Point Racing Seat Belts. • Shelby Woodgrain Steering Wheel • Rear Parcel Shelf (no rear seat). • Plastic Rear Quarter WIndows. • 10-spoke alloy wheels. This car was regularly campaigned by the previous owner in vintage racing events. It was purchased by the current owner in 2010 with 95,881 miles and in the last 6 years of his ownership has been driven less than 1,000 miles. Much work was done (as noted above) in 2014, including harmonic balancer, brakes, transmission, drivetrain and rear-end rebuilds. The mirrors mounted on the doors were removed and the mounting points covered. Also note there is a small dent/dimple in the roof that does not affect the paint. See photo.
