1971 PORSCHE 914You are viewing my 1971 Porsche 914 project. I love this car-I did not lose interest, I just ran out of time.Exterior- This car grew up in McAllen, Texas-so, there is nothing but a small amount of surface rust underneath.The battery tray has suffered but is intact. The "Hell Hole" is satisfactory. Paint is a 7.5 on a scale of 10. Stored in a barn with a car cover. No scrapes- just minor hail damage on the trunk only. I was advised it could be repaired without painting. Pedrini 15" wheels with caps plus the spare.Tires appear to be brand new but were just mounted from another project. Targa top and latches operate well. Chrome is excellent.Interior- Very good condition-needs new floor carpet. No radio but have cover plate. Please disregard the ugly shifter-it is replaced with the side shift transmission discussed below. Needs new steering wheel horn bar. Has usual cracks in the dash. All instruments operated before dismantling of the engine. Windows operate properly.Mechanical-Engine: I have several engine parts as follows:1. 2.0L engine case with std/std crankshaft and main bearings, rods, etc.2. 1.7L numbers matching case w/rods, heads, pistons/cylinders, etc.,3. Balance of parts to complete an engine, including a. Reground modified stock fuel injection cam b. Sheet metal c. 1.8L restored heads d. heat exchangers w/bursch style muffler e. fuel injection - both 1.8L and 2.0L f. Weber card manifilds, and g. You provide 93/94mm pistons/cylinders and lifters of your choice.Transmission- 2 transmissions, as follows:1. 901 side shifter transmission with necessary accessories, and2. 901 tail shifter(numbers matching)- requires new synchros and first gear.Other-1. Front and rear sway bars and mounting plates, and2.Set of BMW 320i front calipers.Misc.- This project will make a great car-some assembly required.
