1979 Porsche 911 911SC Coupe Additional Info:

This1979 Porsche 911SC Coupe is finished in India Red, but the original color was the extremely rare Lilac (Moonstone), paint code L601. Having resided in the dry state of New Mexico, it's body shows no signs of serious rust and retains it's original suspension pan, floors and rockers. The car appears stock and is powered by it's original 3.0-liter flat-six paired with a correct type and correct date coded 915/61 5-speed manual transaxle. The clean New Mexico title shows ownership back to 2001 and the car is now being offered with spare tire compressor, original spare and original jack. Outside, the body shows just one repaint from it's original Lilac (Moonstone) to India Red. Paint meter readings are in the very acceptable range of 7 mils to 13 mils. Other than a couple of small chips on the rear edge of the driver side door and a few very tiny stone chips up front, the paint has no noticeable blemishes. No dents or dings. The engine decklid was recently repainted in the original Lilac color by a professional body shop. The original Lilac paint is still visible in the trunk and engine compartments and on the underside of the sunroof panel. Lilac (Moonstone) was a one year only color. Take the entire car back to it's very rare original color and you'll be the only one at the Porsche shows with a 911SC in this color!
The original 16" Fuchs forged alloy wheels show no curb scrapes. The stock brakes are functioning well. Bilstein shocks are installed at all four corners. An older set of 205/55 front and 225/50 rear Bridgestone RE71 ZR rated tires are currently mounted. Adjustable Weltmeister spring plates are installed at the rear.
Inside, the cabin has been kept stock aside from an Alpine CD player. The highly desirable black leather factory sport seats remain in good original condition with some minor wear showing on the driver seat left bolster and a small tear in the right rear seat back. The factory dash has two small cracks. This particular 911SC was optioned with an electric sliding sunroof, which was recently serviced and operates flawlessly as shown in the video below. The sunroof headliner panel was removed to service the sunroof and will be reinstalled prior to delivery.

All instrumentation, horn, lights, dash fan and A/C blower isin working order. A/C compressor is operational, but A/C system needs a recharge. The odometer functions correctly and presently indicates 149,275 miles.Mileage records show just over 5300 miles driven, since the prior owner's purchase in July of 2000. A clean New Mexico title in the prior owner's name and service history back to 2006 is on file.
The original 3.0-liter flat-six (number 6590166) sends power to the rear wheels through a correct type 915/61 5-speed transaxle, with 1979 date code. The engine starts easily, runs very strong and most likely received at least a valve job prior to 2000. It is worth noting that most Porsche mechanics prefer the 1978 and 1979 3.0-liter engines because they have larger intake runners than the 1980 to 1983 3.0-liter engines. The larger intake runners result in a bit more power at the top end of the rpm range. As shown in our detailed photo gallery, the engine has been upgraded with oil fed Carrera chain tensioners and a CIS pop-off valve. 930 exhaust valve covers are also installed. Documented service history from July of 2006 to June of 2012 is present and describes smog belt replacements, several oil and filter services, hood and decklid shock replacements, fuel pump and fuel filter replacements and emissions testing. Within the last few months, the electric sunroof received a detailed cleaning. Engine oil change, oil filter change and brake fluid flush will be completed prior to delivery to the winning bidder. The gearbox shifts smoothly with no grinding as shown in our test drive video below.
