1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S

This is essentially a new 30 year old car. It is extremely reliable, fast and fun. This model is the most powerful of the front engine water cooled 4 cylinder 924, 944 and 968 cars produced by Porsche. It was only made for one year. All options offered in the US were standard on this car. Porsche initially only offered this car in a beautiful silver rose color, with an unfortunate plaid cloth interior. This is one of what is rumored to be one of only about 50 cars in this color. The following year, 1989, Porsche offered a 944 Turbo (not an S) that could be configured to include the options on the Turbo S.

This car has a salvage title. In NC, January of 2002, a slick road caused the original owner to drive over a center median. The report states "Vehicle involved in crash with fixed object. Very minor damage reported". Apparently it did not take much to total one of these cars in 2002. The original owner died shortly thereafter and the car was stored in a climate controlled garage.

All records, including the original window sticker and purchase invoice are included. Mechanically the car is almost perfect with nearly every portion of the car having been updated since it came out of hibernation. The audio and leather work were professionally done. All other work, as indicated below was professionally done in Porsche specialized shops in the Atlanta area.

Features - Stone Grey Metallic paint. Light grey leather interior. (Looks Beige to me) 2.5 Liter intercooled turbo engine with 5 speed transaxel with limited slip differential. Airbags, air conditioning, alarm system, anti-lock brakes, cruise control, fog lamps (since replaced by european driving lights, intermittent wipers, leather seats, power brakes, power door locks power steering, removable powered (tilt) sunroof.

Dyno tested 297 rear wheel horsepower, 351 foot pounds rear wheel torque using the factory air metering system. Additional power could be had by adding an aftermarket mass air flow meter.

All the following work was done within the last 20,000 miles and most of the major engine/cylinder head work was done within the last 10,000 miles. Timing belts and rollers were last done in 5/2017 less than 100 miles ago. This car has been meticulously enhanced and maintained.

Engine - Cylinder head completely rebuilt, new intake vales, valve guides and seals, titanium retainers, radiused valves, milled for higher compression, ported and port matched to intake. Wide Fire headgasket installed. New seals and gaskets on powder coated cam tower, balance shafts, oil cooler and oil pan. New water pump, timing belts and rollers. New water temp, throttle position, reference and speed sensors. New Lindsey Racing blue silicon J boot, hard pipe connectors, water, heater and vacuum hoses. No leaks anywhere. Fuel injectors cleaned and flow matched. New adjustable fuel pressure regulator and adjustable billet by pass valve. Lindsey Racing boost enhancer with LR Max custom chips (stock chips included). New coolant after run pump. New radiator and coolant expansion tank. New Porsche factory motor mounts. New power steering reservoir and lines. New X2 GSM battery, plugs, plug wires, distributor and rotor. New connecting rod bearings and welded Lindsey Racing oil pan baffles when the oil pan gasket was replaced. New air conditioning compressor and condenser. Intake manifold is coated with Nano boost thermal resistant finish. New fuel lines with extra insulation. Custom 3" exhaust, cat delete, Magniflow muffler. Lindsey Racing waste gate muffler, bracket and tip.

Rest of the drivetrain - New clutch master and slave cylinders. New Kennedy Engineeered Performance aluminum pressure plate, new 911 turbo clutch disk. Flywheel lightened by about 7 pounds and balanced. New throwout bearing clevis rod, needle bearings etc. Short throw shift linkage. Transmission inspected and rebuilt with new syncros, filled with Swepco 203. New transmission cooler. New Lindsey Racing "Motorsports" drive axles.

Suspension - MO30 brakes, sway bars and rear torsion bars. New brake rotors, cross drilled fronts. Steel braided brake lines, Hawk blue pads. New Koni yellow "Cup" double adjustable coil over struts and shocks. New tie rod ends.

Body - Porsche factory european driving lights, clear turn signals with orange LEDs. New windshield with imbeded center radio antennae.

Interior - Front seats recovered in full leather. New speakers 4" rears TR400, 6.5" fronts with 2.5" tweeters CX160 and new Blaupunkt Barcelona 230 head unit with bluetooth, sat and USB. New floor and trunk mats. LED dash lights.

However - Exterior paint is in good condition but there are a few areas that could use some attention to be perfect as there are a few areas which got messed up by a cheap car cover. The front has some rock chips. The interior is in very good condition with only a few small imperfections including few small cracks on the dash in the standard areas around the defrost vents.
