1961 Pontiac Catalina Additional Info:

Back in 1961, when full-sized American Pontiacs like Venturas, Catalinas and Bonnevilles ruled the road with their Wide-Track styling, Canadian full-sized Pontiacs were built in Oshawa Ontario on the Chevrolet Assembly line with Pontiac styling and Chevrolet mechanical components. The top of the Canadian Pontiac lineup was "model 7867" Parisienne Convertible. The Parisienne was not quite not fancy as the American Bonneville; it was closer to the Catalina, but a little smaller.

When used every day on Canadian roads, the bodies of these carstypically fell apart within five years. This is one of 2223 built for the Canadian market, and one of a handful that has survived. Thistime machinewas never used as transportation. It has 81,000 sunny miles, and was kept covered in a heated garage for its entire life.

Engine is Chevy's 283 2-barrel with correct Pontiacrocker covers. Transmission is 2-speed cast-iron Powerglide, also correct for a 1961 Parisienne. Fender skirts are a GM Canada factory option; there are no aftermarket add-ons or modifications on this original beauty. Still sporting its original convertible roof, something almost unheard of in a 50+ year vehicle. Bias ply wide whitewall tires, AM radio.

The car was displayed at the Glenmoor Gathering of Significant Automobiles, a prestigious invitation-only concours d'elegance.

The car is in Hamilton, Ontario, a 90-minute drive from Buffalo, NY. I encourage bidders to come and see this classic for themselves before bidding to appreciate how original it is. Questions will be answered promptly.

I will facilitate shipping, but buyer to arrangetransportation. No trades.
