Hello everybody, I am unfortunately selling my Very RARE 1966 Pontiac Tempest NO PILLAR 4 door sedan with Modified High Performance 455; I named her Beatrice.
Sure there might be a 4 door pop up every once in a while (at best 2 a year by my count) BUT when's the last time you've seen one with NO PILLAR. When the windows are rolled down, it almost passes as it's coupe sibling. The Pillar-Less 4 door also has more slant in it's rear window roof line to make it look more like the coupe. It is the Sexiest 4 door you will find!
I purchased her from a retired GM Master Mechanic named Leslie about 3 years ago. He had a broken arm when I met him and took me on a test drive I will never forget. He didn't speak much but the drive did all the selling. His house was filled with muscle & classic cars. He was selling most of his collection because he was moving overseas.
When I bought her, I had one thing in mind... build the 4 door GTO that never was. Leslie had the performance down with a modified 455 that he says produces 400 H.P. I never had her dyno'd but I didn't really care. She had all the power I needed and when I compare her to my 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass with a new 500 HP 502 in it... she doesn't seem to be lagging in the power department. He also added Front Disc Brakes.he lines on her are Super Straight (except for the newly added hood which needs to be aligned).
So why am I selling you ask? Well when I first purchased my home it was just my wife and I. House had 2 bedrooms. I converted my Master Bathroom and Walk in Closet into a 3rd bedroom when I had my 2nd daughter. Well 1 more daughter (3 total) and it's time to move. Selling my '66 Pontiac, RestoMod '70 Olds Cutlass Convertible and '08 Lifter JK Jeep Wrangler. Going to kill me just driving a Prius but a father's gotta do what a father's gotta do.
NEW PARTS:
GTO aftermarket hood which I just installed a few months back. It's been paint dipped matte black which will easily peel off if you want to paint.
GTO aftermarket grill was my first change with ORIGINAL GTO grill lights.
GTO aftermarket Tail Light assembly NEW-IN-BOX never installed. Was going to to Paint Dip panel when I found the Tail Lights.
EATON 2" springs in rear. I like the muscle look and it's not like it's riding that much higher than front.
WHAT IT NEEDS:
I had her in my local car show and everybody wanted to take a pic inside the car which I didn't mind but when I went to leave, the Passenger side Rear door wouldn't open anymore. I'm sure it's a simple fix but just never got around to addressing it.
I don't really think the Speedometer is accurate. Needs to be re-calibrated.
Interior Lights on dash are either not wired or don't work. Again, it never bothered me enough to address.
She is very photogenic but the paint is not all that great from up close. More like a 6 out of 10. I wasn't planning on painting her until I had the rear tail-lights and tail panel installed and then I was going to get all the GTO emblems.
Hood needs to be aligned. My neighbor helped me install it, we did our best to align ourselves but it needs to be perfected. I wouldn't bother until you're ready to paint and have the body shop do it.
