1979 Pontiac Trans Am Silver Anniversary Additional Info:

NO RESERVE!!!

In 1979, Pontiac released the 10th Anniversary Pontiac Trans Am to commemorate the 10thAnniversary of the first Trans Am that rolled off the line in 1969. This was a limited production run of only 7500 Trans Ams. The SATAs could be purchased with either the Pontiac 400 with the 4-speed manual gearbox or the 403 with the automatic transmission. Out of the complete production run of SATAs,1,817 were equipped with the 400/4 speed drive train while the remaining 5,683 were equipped with the 403/automatic drive train. The standard Silver Anniversary paint scheme was the two-tone silver and charcoal paint. The body of the car was also accented with the red and black pinstripe package similar to the “Special Edition” striping of the earlier Special Edition Trans Ams. There were also special decals that were placed on the car signifying the 10th Anniversary Edition. The entire 10th anniversary car was nicely equipped with the WS6 package, custom silver interior similar to the 1978 corvette pace cars, and the “shag” carpet with the firebird emblem embroidered on the door panels and rear seat back. Standard on all 10thAnniversary cars were power windows, power locks, air conditioning, and power trunk release. The instrument cluster illuminates red instead of the traditional white lighting. The T-tops were also a special mirrored finish instead of the “smoke” finish T-tops of the other Trans Ams. The 10th Anniversary Trans Am was also the first time the “Turbo” wheels were seen on the Trans Am. The car was set part in celebration of the 10thanniversary of the car’s production. SATAs can easily be identified by using the VIN number as a reference. Instead of the normal “S” or “W” to signify other makes of the Firebirds, the 10th Anniversary cars have an “X” as the second digit in the VIN number to appropriately designate the car.

This particular SATA comes with excellent ownership history from the date originally purchased along with the window stickers and tank build sheet. It was produced in Van Nuys, California Pontiac plant and originally sold to its first owner in California from Leo Payne Pontiac in Lakewood, CO. As current owner, I have owned it since April of 2012. It was mechanically gone through in 2014 for light rehab and regular maintenance by Carr's Corvettes and Customs in Plano, Texas. The car has 3 non-factory items on it that can be reversed: 1. Sub-frame connectors to stiffen the car and prevent long term sag; 2. Magnaflow factory replacement stainless exhaust; and 3. Custom Autosound USA 630 Pontiac stereo head unit with upgraded 6x9 speakers in the rear.

Reason for sale is I have migrated to high performance driving which doesn’t allow for the car to get enjoyed as it should be.
