I bought this from a friend in Oregon last fall, he'd been restoring this car since 2004 and curve ball from "life" forced him to sell it. I finished the car from Oct to March 2019. I have every receipt showing the parts and labor he's put into the car. The engine is a 1968/69 Pontiac 400 service replacement block (same number block as a GTO/Automatic from 68 and 69) - he bought the car from the original owner who said he blew the engine up in the late 60's and it was replaced under warranty, it' still wears the original 1968 #16 heads and still has the original carb (rebuilt). I believe the transmission is also original but I have not verified it as of yet.
The car is super straight and the under carriage is as clean as the top. I have the PHS docs for the car. The restoration was done to reflect the original car with the exception of the wheels and tires. The original scheme was red lines with hub caps - no thanks. The Rally II's with BFG radial TA's are much nicer looking. ZERO RUST ANYWHERE!! The paint is very nice and the new vinyl top is in great shape. All new weather stripping, paint, top, trim, seat covers, headliner, carpet, modern stereo, new disc brakes up front, new drums and brakes out back, ceramic coated headers with new aluminized exhaust all the way back to the vintage exhaust tips, you can tell it has a bit of a cam. I just had the engine fully tuned and she starts up quick and idles nicely. The dash has digital gauges but looks like old school with sweeping needles as opposed to digital numbers, much nicer. The original tach dash is in the trunk. The car was completely re-wired front to back and the electrics are 100% - the car will sit for weeks and start right up (no draw at all). All suspension parts, brake parts, shocks, springs, brake lines, light bulbs, etc - ALL NEW.
Runs and drives great!
