If you don’t want to scare old ladies, intimidate timid men or annoy Prius types, this car isn’t for you. But, if going from 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds while getting 24 mpg sounds good. Or commuting to work, then the drag strip, and then to a car show all in the same car is what you've been looking for, this might be the car for you.
It’s a real 1977 Trans Am, not a clone. The original 403 Olds motor and 350 transmission are long gone. In their place is a 2002 Trans Am LS1 and 2002 4L60E from a Camaro SS. Both have been professionally rebuilt with receipts and warranties. Both are tuned. There is less than 1000 miles on the drivetrain. The LS1 has a Corvette cam and headers, exiting through a Pypes Violator X-pipe dual exhaust. The shaker is attached to the engine and really shakes. All accessories are new or rebuilt.
Brand new Year One 17” snowflakes with Nitto 555 G2 rubber. Four wheel drilled and slotted disc brakes. It rides not like the original at all. The suspension has been stiffened with new poly bushings and Moog parts. The underside is detailed. The paint and decals are fresh. See the pics.
Inside, the dash and console are covered in hand-stitched leatherlike vinyl. All plastic interior trim is new, as is the headliner, carpet, package tray and door panels. The front seats are Recaro-type recliners, the rears are upholstered to match. There's a four speaker top-of-the-line 100 Watt Sony Bluetooth sound system installed.
The gauges are custom designed electronic Dakota Digital VHX units. They are LED backlit and digitally driven yet appear stock, mounted in their original locations. The system can report 0-60 times, ¼ mile trap speed, trip meters, clocks, warnings, and much more. The heating and A/C system has been replaced with an electronically controlled Vintage Air system that is more compact and efficient than the original.
It may look like an SE, but it isn't. The ride isn’t 'comfy' like a modern car, the power windows work as well as they originally did, which wasn’t that great, and the back seats barely fit a car seat, let alone an adult. But when you pull into a parking lot it’s guaranteed there won’t be another like it. And if a real SE happens to be there, you’ll be hard pressed to find the difference, except for the “T/A LSX” decal on the shaker. And that’s nothing to be ashamed of.
