1970 Plymouth Duster H-code 340 Additional Info:

1970 Plymouth Duster (VS29H0B147xxx) factory 340c.i.(H-code) car, Hurst 4-speed, upgraded to a newer 408c.i. stroker motor and High Impact EK2 Vitamin C orange paint!!!The Duster has factory front disc brakes, black 340 Duster side stripe and black trunk/tail panel stripe, AM radio, factory woodgrain rallye cluster, added 340 hood scoops, sharkstooth grill and Go-Wing spoiler, manual steering, bucket seats, upgraded to the larger factory 5 on 4 ½” bolt pattern and Crager wheels with BFG tires. The stunning high gloss Vitamin C Orange base/clear paint is awesome and will impress you even more in person! The Duster was partially restored in 2014/2015 and now I just finished a light refresh restoration (400 hours) on the entire car including a complete block wet sanding and buffing on the paint, engine bay work, interior work, dash and gauge cluster and factory gauges, engine tuning and adjustments, complete heater box resto, checked over all suspension, electrical items, complete wiring, lighting, restored and painted trunk, restored steering column and tons of small items that most people overlook when selling or buying a car. There is no build sheet or fender tag but I have verifiedall of the body numbers match on the radiator support, VIN tag, original door VIN decal and on the speaker shelf/trunk divider area. You must check these numbers to authenticate that it is a real 340 Duster. This is an absolutely beautiful car that is a real factory H-code 340 Duster and not a cloned 6 cylinder or 318 car! When doing a restoration of this caliber takes a lot of time, patience and money to be done correctly. Please understand this is not your average “driver” condition 340 Duster!!!

PAINT AND BODY

The body is in excellent shape and the panels are very straight with excellent seems and panel fit. The super high-gloss deep clear coat shine was just professionally wet sanded with 1500, 2000 and 2,500 grit paper to achieve the high caliber ultra shine finish. This long process alone took over 50 hours and the finish shows it! The Dusters sheet metal is believed to be original as all the factory spot welds appear to be correct. The trunk floor, trunk extensions, floor boards, rockers, fenders, hood, doors and frame rails are super clean and also appear original. The Duster was painted in 2014/2015 with base coat/clear coat and is in unbelievable nice condition… it has that deep wet look shine and looks like it was just out of the paint booth! If you think it looks good in the photos you need to see it in person! The paint in all the door jams and engine bay looks fantastic. I am very critical on paint and there are only a few extremely minor flaws in the paint. There are some super small fish eyes (like a pin mark) on only some area’s on the tops of the car. You don’t really notice them unless you are under fluorescent lights in a garage. The underside of the trunk lid and hood are also in excellent condition. The doors open and close excellent with the ease of a finger and even the door latches and strikers were cleaned and polished. PLEASE CALL ME AT412-496-1439 AND I WILL BE GLAD TO DO A COMPLETE WALK AROUND OF THE DUSTER, THANKS, CHAD.

GLASS, CHROME AND TRIM

The glass is in very good condition with only a few very minor marks. The front windshield is the original glass and in very nice shape and only has a couple small 1 to 2” scratches in it near the center. The rest of the glass also appears original except the drivers side door glass was changed. Even the rear glass is in very nice condition and only have a few very minor scratches overall it is extremely nice for factory glass. All windows and locks operate as should. The front and rear bumpers are re-chromed and look excellent! The window trim is very clean and was polished for optimum shine. New chrome factory mirrors, door handles and antenna. Very nice restored added sharkestooth grill!!!

INTERIOR

The interior has very nice black/charcoal seat covers, newer carpet and all new trunk divider, speaker shelf, headliner, correct interior insulation, and sill plates. The dash instrument cluster and dash were restored and looks excellent! All factory gauges work and operate correctly as they were all checked, cleaned or replaced if needed. Also cleaned, checked or replaced were the circuit boards, voltage limiter, dash bulbs and bulb holders. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, dome light, tail lights, parking lights, turn signals, fender mount turn signals, four-way flashers, license plate light and even the cigar lighter works. The factory thumb wheel AM radio is also in working condition. The dash harness was restored and fixed with factory ends and new bulkhead connector. Completely restored heater box with seals, foam, cleaned doors and new heater core. All heater/defroster cables are working and adjusted. The E-brake, defrosters, heater, fan, horn, speedometer and dimmer switch all work as should.

DRIVE TRAIN / SUSPENSION

The Duster has a newer excellent street running 408c.i. crate stroker motor from Summit Racing. I have all the receipts, information and dyno sheets on the 408. The factory 340 was long gone before I purchased the Duster. The engine makes excellent power, runs very strong through all the gears and sounds great. It is advertised at 375 HP but the dyno sheet has it at 411 hp.. It is topped off with black wrinkle finish aluminum valve covers, Headman headers, Holley electric choke 750cfm carb and aluminum intake, full dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers and factory style chrome tips and much more! The distributor has been set up to run total advance timing meaning it is set at 34 degrees at 2500 rpm and has an initial setting at 16 degrees. Excellent for performance, cooling and idles perfect! The 408 gives an excellent range of power, very street friendly and runs/drives beautiful! I only use the Brad Penn High Performance oil, which was just changed and is ready to go! It is one of the best oils on the market and already has the higher Zinc added in for older cars. The 4-speed transmission was also installed and rebuilt by the previous owner and has a newer 10 ½” Ram clutch, pressure plate, Mopar flywheel and throw-out bearing. The 4-speed is a 1973 transmission. I did change the speedo plastic gear to a 37 tooth and put in new seals on the housing. I was also told the radiator is newer and it has the has the correct style fan shroud. The rear end is an 8 3/4 with 4.10 posi center and a 489 case number on it. It has the original stock leaf springs with new air shocks that work great. The front suspension was completely checked over and has almost all newer parts including upper control arms, upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, pitman and idler arms and upper/lower control arm bumpers. This excellent drive train combo has very good performance and handles great in all conditions! Please look at the photos closely to see the amount of detail work that was done!

I typically restore and finish around 10 Mopars a year and have been working on them for more than 30 years. I do every one as if it were my own to keep. I put a lot of time, effort, pride and money in the cars I offer for sale which is evident when viewing one of my cars compared to others for sale. This is one of the few cars you can view in person and say that it is actually nicer than the photos.
