1985 Other Makes X1/9 VS-S CORSA FLAMINIA PROTOTIPO Additional Info:

BERTOLUCCE GAMBONDINI'S 1985 BERTONE X1/9 VS-S CORSA FLAMINIA PROTOTIPO FULLY RESTORED MAINTAINED CAR, MEANING EVERYTHING HAS EITHER BEEN REPLACED with new AND N.O.S PARTS FROM FRICTION LININGS FLUIDS ETC. (such as N.O.S. crack free dash, door weatherstrip rubber moldings. vanity gas cap, clutch, trim rings, corsa fog lights etc.) REFURBISHED, REFINISHED OR REBUILT. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THOSE OF YOU WATCHING FOR YOUR PATIENCE WITH THE FORMATTING OF THIS LISTING, AND TO MENTION BEFORE ANY BIDS THAT I DO NOT BUY MY CARS JUST TO LOOK AT, I BUY THEM TO DRIVE, OR BUY THEM TO RESTORE IN ORDER TO BE READY(status) TO DRIVE WHENEVER THE MOMENT STRIKES ME. IF YOU WIN THIS CAR THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO WITH IT AS THIS IS NOT A FIXER UPPER. THIS CAR HAS NEVER HAD ANY RUST AS IT WAS A DESERT/BASIN CAR MOST OF ITS LIFE AND RECEIVED UNDERCOATING AT THE FACTORY PRIOR TO SHIPPING/BEING LOADED ON THE SHIP (for a while they had a designated place to do this at the factory, I saw it, it was very messy work! Later it was done elsewhere like on the container ships if done at all). THESE ARE GREAT DRIVING TOURING CARS AND LATER VERSIONS STOCK WILL CRUISE AT 80 MPH. THESE CARS DO GET IN NEIGHBORHOOD OF 30 TO 37mpg FOR REAL. WHILE IN MANY RESPECTS ESSENTIALLY THE SAME CAR (as the later 5spd fiat x1/9) IN 1983 AND AFTER CARS HAD ELECTRICAL UPGRADES ATC FUSES, DIFFERENT BADGING, BETTER INTERIOR UPHOLSTERY, BOTH CARS SHARED (stale) AIR EXTRACTORS (better ventilation) WITH THE TOP ON, MORE PLUSH INTERIORS, BETTER AIR CONDITIONERS, MORE AMENITIES, BETTER SERVICE ACCESS, MORE POWER WITH THE 1.5L RELIABLE BOSCH FI ENGINE AND THE 5 SPD AS SUCH ARE/WERE TITLED AS BERTONES NOT FIATS.BETWEEN BERTONE/MALCOLM BRICKLIN-I.A.I. THEY REFINED THESE CARS AS MUCH AS THEY COULD (for the money involved), AND CONTINUED TO DO SO BUT FAILED TO GET THE CUSTOMERS BACK INTO THE DEALERSHIPS FOR MAINTENANCE, AND FAILED TO COMPENSATE PEOPLE LIKE ME TO DO WARRANTY WORK WHICH IS ONE REASON I QUIT (and went to volvo, then kawasaki) THEY EVENTUALLY PULLED OUT OF THE US MARKET. THE LATER CARS WERE WELL DESIGNED, SAFE AND THE MOST ACCESSIBLE VERSIONS TO MAINTAIN AND MOST RELIABLE VERSIONS OF THIS AUTOMOBILE, BUT REQUIRED SIMPLE MAINTENANCE (not unlike any other) AND SORTING OBVIOUSLY, AND NOT EVERYONE OR EVERY SERVICE FACILITY OUT THERE WAS QUALIFIED OR WILLING. ALL THE CENTER CAPS AND N.O.S TRIM RINGS ARE THERE AND INCLUDED. THESE CARS OFFERED A LEVEL OF SOPHISTICATION, LUXURY AND EXOTIC MATERIALS UNPRECEDENTED FOR THE MONEY AT THE TIME WHICH IS ON REASON PEOPLE WILL BEGIN TO SORT RESTORE THE EXISTING CARS OUT THERE FOR THEIR UNIQUE OFFERINGS AND CONSEQUENTLY THERE VALUE HAS NO PLACE TO GO BUT UP! AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS AD THERE IS A DARK AREA WITH PURPLE WRITING IN IT, IF YOU CLICK THIS DIRECT LINK IT WILL TAKE YOU TO A VIDEO INTRODUCING WHO YOU WOULD BE BUYING THIS CAR FROM AND A RELEVANT EXPLANATION WHY THESE CARS ARE WORTHY INVESTMENTS FOR ALL INTERESTED IN THE BERTONE/FIAT X1/9 CAR.
ALL MAINTENANCE WORK WAS PERFORMED BY A FACTORY TRAINED TECHNICIAN (over the last 15 years) AND LIFE LONG AFICIONADO OF THE MAKE. TOWARDS THEN END OF ITS FIRST LIFE THIS CAR FAILED CALIFORNIA SMOG TWICE WHICH IS WHY THE ENGINE (long block and cylinder head) HAD TO BE REBUILT OR EXCHANGED IN ORDER FOR THE OWNER TO BE ABLE TO LEGALLY RESELL A SMOGABLE CAR IN CALIFORNIA. REBUILT BY AL COSENTINO ORGANIZATION AROUND 1999 AND THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 5000 MILES SINCE. ACTUALLY QUITE A FEW PEOPLE HAD A HAND IN THE INCEPTION OF THIS PARTICULAR CAR
THE LATE BERT G. (the body/painter referred to above) WAS JUST THE HANDS ON GUY. To read more about the history of the car you can google bertone x1/9 corsa flaminia and an in depth ad will come up. BUILT 06-1984 IT WAS A PROMOTIONAL MULE FOR BERTONE FOR THE 1985 MODEL YEAR AT THE SALON DE L' AUTOMOBILE MOTOR SHOW IN PARIS FRANCE. THERE WERE TWO CARS BUILT JUST LIKE THIS ONE. THIS VEHICLE CAN BE SHIPPED, I WILL ACCOMPANY THE CAR TO YOUR DOOR TO MAKE SURE IT ARRIVES IN TACT the way you see it AND/OR HELP YOU BECOME ACQUAINTED WITH IT IF DESIRED. IF YOU NOTICE THE PHOTOS OF THE FRONT BADGE THAT APPEARED IN SOME PICTURES AND NOT IN OTHERS THAT BADGE ASSEMBLY WAS IN MY TOOL BOX FOR OVER A DECADE AND THE PAINTER NEVER REINSTALLED IT FROM WHEN THE CAR WAS RESTORED. From the photos you may be able to make out M.A. PICCOLOANTONIO, HE WAS one of the GUY'S THEY WENT TO FOR CUSTOM METAL FAB/ BADGES ONCE THE DESIGNS WERE ISSUED FOR BIDS IN ITALY, HE WORKED OUT OF MODENA HENCE MODN IT IS DATED 05- 84 IT IS A HANDMADE FABRICATED PIECE. THE BADGE ITSELF IS THE SAME TYPE THAT WAS USED ON OTHER BERTONE EXOTIC CARS.
WE HAVE MARCELLO GANDINI TO THANK FOR THE FANTUZZI/ BIZZARINNI INSPIRED DESIGN OF THIS PARTICULAR CAR/ CORSA PACKAGE AS WELL AS THE PAINT SCHEME DELINEATIONS (just not the particular colors which are black with red pearl and greccio with sprayable paint with formulas for any respraying needs). THESE PARTS DID NOT COME FROM JUST ANYWHERE, THEY WERE SPECIFICALLY AUTHORIZED MADE FOR THE X1/9, AND INSTALLED ON THIS CAR IN CARROZERRIA BY SPECIAL PERMISSION/ORDER FOR A VIP TO PROMOTE WHAT A BERTONE X1/9 COULD BE OFFERED WITH AS WELL AS WHAT COULD BE INTEGRATED WITH/ THROUGH THE DEALER NETWORKS. IT DID NOT COME WITH A REMOVABLE SARATOGA PANORAMIC POLYCARBONATE ROOF PANEL BUT WILL COME WITH THE CAR IF THE RESERVE IS MET. IF IT IS NOT WANTED $1000.00 WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM THE TOTAL PURCHASE PRICE. THE SEVEN INCH WIDE 13" WHEELS WERE A SPECIAL DEALER OPTION THAT WAS MADE AVAILABLE THROUGH MALCOLM BRICKLIN AT THE DEALERSHIPS FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. AGAIN SO AS I DO NOT HAVE TO PAY SOMEONE TO REWRITE THE FULL ADD IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN SOME OF THE HISTORY OF THIS CAR AND OTHER PARTICULARS YOU MIGHT GOOGLE 1985 BERTONE X1/9 CORSA FLAMINIA IT SHOULD COME UP AND YOU CAN READ ABOUT IT IN THE OLD EBAY AD. In response to your queries and paint, it has never spent a single day outside in the sun uncovered since I have had it painted. It has good gloss high dollar clear PPG DC4000, sealer undercoat used. Paint very nice presentable anywhere. sealer, defects related to driving, shrinkage, chips (virtually none) swelling minimal. Overall mechanical condition: excellent I would drive it anywhere tomorrow as I know for a fact what was done to it and I have logged over 500,000 miles in these cars over the past three and a half decades. I have been everywhere in these cars. Very nice presentable in almost any venue (perhaps not a Harley convention). While these cars were not made necessarily for the average backyard mechanic you don't need a modis and thousands of dollars worth of diagnostics to keep them on the road, (scan tools very rarely needed with these cars) just maintenance/drive them, they like to be driven. Hard parts and spares to keep the cars running are fairly inexpensive, and most all parts are obtainable new or near new (Martin/Netherlands) for restorations this is not a cheap car to restore, so when you find them nice, it is a deal. The Bad, while no one is saying this car is perfect it's cosmetic defects are so minor in nature that they are do not warrant mentioning, if I can't photograph them they do not seriously detract from this cars value which is top tier next to the stock factory Dallara or seriously hacked/modified cars whose value is intrinsic. If it had a big scratch on the fender I would disclose it or have it repaired etc. After some practice I do a pretty good job of keeping mayhem away from my cars. These x1/9's were not designed to be a poor mans car/ chevy, rather a poor man's exotic (foray into the Ferrari realm) and they did as good a job as any human could do for the money. The parts are not as expensive as other exotics. An N.O.S. dash was cheaper than having it professionally recovered!
