This highly desirable black on black car shows extremely well and was one of only 171 Interceptors produced in 1976…the final year of production.
The Jensen Interceptor was a sporting GT-class car, hand-built in the UK by Jensen Motors between 1966 and 1976. The car broke with a Jensen tradition by having a steel bodyshell instead of a glass-reinforced plastic one and by having the body designed by an outside firm, Carrozzeria Touring of Italy, was contracted to design the Jensen they are recognizably associated with the likes of Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Maserati and Alfa Romeo.
Finished in a deep glossy black, this coupe shows extremely well. All the aluminum trim is present, complete and displays well with normal wear. The original front and rear bumpers fit is tight and finish is great. The weather-stripping is pliable and performs its intended function. The original 15-inch wheels represent well with only slight signs of marring.
Inside, the rich black leather front bucket seats and rear seats are in good condition. The matching black door panels, carpet and dashboard are a continuation of the striking black exterior of the car and look fantastic. This car is 1 of 100 that were equipped with a dealer installed sliding sunroof, very rare! All gauges have correct appearance and function as originally designed. Heater and air conditioning are functioning along with the power seats, power windows and Motorola AM/FM 8-track. The Moto-Lita 3 spoke leather wrapped steering wheel is in great condition, however the horn is inoperable. The black leather dashboard and wood trim veneer adds to the elegant British feel.
This nicely presented Jensen comes equipped with a Carter 4 barrel carburetor, feeding a 385hp 440ci Chrysler V8 engine, mated to a TorqueFlite A727 three-speed automatic gearbox with a 3.07:1 gear ratio limited slip differential, dual stainless steel exhaust, power steering and power brakes. The 15-inch 5 spoke cast aluminum original equipment alloys come equipped with red line performance rated tires.
