FOR SALE 1970 OPEL GT 1.9L

I owned this car for fifteen years during which time I transformed it from a mix match of non-OPEL parts and other components that were not in place or altogether missing, gas tank was out of the car, there was no brake hardware, no carburetor, etc. to a mostly original 1970 OPEL GT. Over the fifteen years I spent a few thousand dollars in parts and services, by far the lion share of components came from Opel GT Source (www.opelgtsource.com) and the rest came from mostly NOS parts out of eBay.

But before I get into details I want to give a quick note of the car’s trajectory to it’s current existence. The car was originally picked up from a carport in Arizona where it had lived most of its 65K original miles from there it was moved to Walnut Creek CA, the owner wanted to work on the car but it was mostly garaged there until it was again purchased and moved to Portland OR, and that’s where I pick up the story; moved the car back to California, where I worked on it on & off, always slept in the garage.

New suspension equipment all the way around, new resonator, brake booster and other brake hardware, gas tank was cleaned and reinstalled, it has the original 4 speed transmission ithat was professionally rebuilt by HTS Inc. Sacramento, as well as a new clutch. The interior is mostly done with new carpets and reupholstered seats to original specs, only missing the headliner to be installed ( I will include the material for it with the sale) also missing are the two side panels in the back. The car runs great, keep in mind it is a fifty year old car and it has some issues such as the window rubber needs to be replaced except for the front which is new, the odometer reading it’s not accurate. I have done a tune up prior to the sale. The engine has oil leaks in the usual places ie. oil pan. The body is free from rust due to the fact that it has always been garaged. A few years back I was involved in a fender bender that accounts for the front end damage. Other things worth mentioning are the dashboard is clean and free from cracks ( very unusual), the clock works as does the interior dome light, the speedometer does not work well. locking gas tank cup, chromed driver side mirror from Suselbeek, Germany (opelgtparts.com), spare tire is original tire from Opel and holds air pressure well. The car is registered in California and is ready for it’s next adventure. CAR IS SOLD AS IS.
