1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Additional Info:

Manufactured in July of 1976, this bicentennial month and year Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme is painted light metallic blue (code 28) with a rarely seen full white vinyl top and has big 4 blue velour interior in very nice condition. No smoking was allowed. Garage kept and not driven in snow, This Cutlass is a very nice driver, not a show ca, but could be, with about 90% original paint and was used mostly for road trips and pleasure rides. I have personally owned this Cutlass for 37 years and will include all known service, repair, upgrade and maintainence records.

The included original build sheet confirms matching L34 Olds 350 4bb, M38 Olds Turbo 350 transmission and the GU1 Olds 2.41 highway rear axle along with Power steering, Power Brakes Tinted Glas, remote mirror, tilt wheel and much more. As an added bonus proven performance work and parts including Edelbrock, Hooker, Crane and more have been added. Read Below !

There is no rust thru showing in the fenders, doors, quarters, or floor and trunk pan. The body plugs show no rust around, and the original dealer under coating is still intact. All the glass and window trim is in excellent condition. The doors fit and function perfectly with tight pins.Trunk and hood fit and function correctly.

Showing an honest 112380 miles, this car runs better than new with outstanding throttle response, shifts smoothly at light throttle and firmly at advanced throttle. The suspension is tight and the braking is smooth and straight. The ac blows cold with the original r12 still in place. This Cutlass Supreme was always well maintained and lubricated with fluid and coolant changes on a regular basis .

At about 50000 miles better performace was desired and achieved with very smooth and more powerfull engine upgrades, with great throttle response over all rpm ranges. The matching original heads were removed and professionally redone including a compresson bump, re-cut seats and valves. All springs checked for height and tension, new stem seals . The ports were cleaned up and matched and the exhaust smoothed and polished. The heat passage was left intact for proper warm up. A GM stainless steel head gasket was installed for reliability.
An Edelbrock performer camshaft and lifter, roller chain and gears, and Edelbrock performer intake were installed along with a Crane adjustable vacuum advance and Crane mechanical limiter. A pair of hooker super comp headers feed a pair of thrush hush mufflers thru custom pipes and exit via 1974 cutlass dual pipes. It sounds great outside and mellow inside under light throttl, and fantastic at higher throttle positions, not objectionable at all.

The original 800 cfm carb with the rarely seen aneroid bellows for automatic altitude adjustment was professionally rebuilt and calibrated along with proper timing and advance adjustment to match the new breathing capabilities. A hayden in line transmission cooler was added for long life. All new coolant hoses were installed with heat and rub protective blue nylon covers (easily removable if desired). The good working oem pcv system and air cleaner package ventilates thru chrome valve covers. I drove this car 1600 miles, to the top of pikes peak twice, and back in this exact configuration 10000 miles ago and it performed flawlessly. You really can drive it anywhere.

As you might expect there are a few blemishes, and imperfections that don't show too well in pictures . I will point them out here. The galvanized panel above the trunk lid on these didn't hold paint well and this area was etched primed, resprayed and blended, maybe 30 years ago. The top was sealed and coated in the correct white about 25 years ago. There is some crazing in the top coating right rear area. These areas are stable and have not changed in years. There is a small dent in the left front bumper corner and a dimple in the center front license plate area. The rear bumper has some minor dinks, and blemishes in the replaceable top bumper cap left rear. Slight dis-coloration and a wave on the right front fender. The available rear bumper filler panels cracked and were re-glued.There are rub thru marks on the left edge of the carpet on the drivers side from the aggressive factory mats.
The rear defroster power was disconnected (never used anyway) to allow the blower to run slower and quieter when on ac max and the rear defrost switch is on. The defroster grid is hooked to the radio as an aux antenna more than doubling the range of the radio. The radio is an audiovox am fm cassette with equalizer and new stereo speakers front and rear. Factory knobs.
There are driving lights in the bumper, relay activated by the high beams. There is a running light circuit, relay activated by the parking lights and disabled when desired by the high beam switch. A small trickle charging jack is located in the left front grill. All theses circuits default to original operation by removing one fuse. A full wiring schematic is included with the car. All high and low beams were replaced with halogen lights. All the wiring is intact and original in the entire car and of excellent condition with just two minor connections to the high and low beams. All electronics function perfectly except the clock .

From about 90000-100000 miles the master cylinder, ac clutch, harmonic balancer, water pump, alternator, belt, dist. cap rotor, plug, fuel pump u-joints and more were replaced or serviced for future reliability. The original radiator was re-cored. New shocks and sway bar links were installed. At about 111000 miles the carb was rebuilt, brass float, new air, fuel filter, lube oil and filter, trans rear seal. Transmission had total fluid change (not flushed) and filte, as was done every 30k miles or so.

I run this car on trips about four times a year, about 280 miles total, to keep it in shape. Fresh non-ethanol fuel has always been used for the last 26 years the fuel system is excellent. You can run regular pump gas if desired. It is always garaged and has been very well maintained . There are no known leaks of any consequence under the car.
