In 1987 my parents purchased a new Nissan Maxima SE 5 speed for my mother. Until recently, my mom insisted on driving cars with manual transmissions. I've always admired that. Based on my appreciation for that Maxima I bought a used 200SX SE a few years later. I only owned it for a short time before I moved on to a more adult type vehicle with comfortable seating for 4 adults but I've always looked back with fond memories of that car. Now I have my garage filled with American classics from the 60's and 70's. But when a local Dodge dealer got this little Nissan as a trade-in from the original owners, I just had to have it. I hadn't seen one in almost 20 years. And, to find a 5 speed is very difficult. This is a unique car in very good condition. It drives and feels exactly like mine did 25 years ago. The car is tight and solid without rattles or vibrations. A tribute to the low mileage. I've done nothing to this car during my ownership besides general cleaning and polishing. I enjoy the rewards of making a car look as good as it can. Mission accomplished! Another benefit to having my hands over just about every inch of the car is that I become aware of the blemishes and flaws. There aren't very many but I clearly document what I have discovered within the photo display. The cars original condition is impressive. No rust issues ever living in Oregon it's whole life. Almost entirely original paint (exception noted below) beautiful original interior and perfectly functioning original drive-train. I haven't spent that much time looking but my assumptions are that finding a nice late 80's 200SX is hard to do. Due to low production numbers and the abuse most of them suffered, there aren't many nice examples left. As with everything else in my collection, this car is just sitting ignored in the garage. It deserves to belong to someone that appreciates these cars.

All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations pertaining to an almost 30 year old vehicle and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my 200SX in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately from as many angles and lighting conditions as I could capture. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My telephone number is503-575-0404and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Monday evening, the 21st of November at 7:30PM Pacific.

I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and my Nissan becomes no longer available.

-INTERIOR-

How many years has it been since Kraco sold aftermarket 200SX floor mats? These are really cool and the carpet under them is like new. Actually, all of the interior is gorgeous. The seats, dashboard and headliner are beautiful. The passenger door panel has a flaw (photo provided) and the driver seat has a small repaired spot that is barely noticeable. Very, very nice original interior.

-ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, SUSPENSION & BRAKES-

Are all sound. There really isn't anything else to say. The 3.0 V6 runs and performs beautifully. She starts easily and makes NO abnormal noises. NO ticks, misses or exhaust leaks. Factory rated at 160hp and capable of over 25 miles per gallon under the right conditions. The fully synchromesh 5 speed transmission shifts up and down like butter with firm gear positions. The clutch engages strong with slippage or chatter. Brakes and suspension are in fine order as well. I have no mechanical complaints. The car is a pleasure to drive. Acceleration and shifting points are a blast. The 1980's hit a home run with these cars. I love driving it.

I have a Carfax history report that I'm happy to provide. There is no negative history of any kind. Although I don't have service records to 100% document the mileage, a lifetime of owning vintage automobiles tells me with certainty that the mileage is correct. The condition of the car speaks for itself.

-BODY, PAINT-TRIM, etc-

The body and paint are in very nice condition. She is 29 years old with factory applied paint so imperfections can be found under close scrutiny. No rust, dents or ugly scratches. A handful of rock chips and small blems have been touched-in with color matched paint. I provide close up photos of those minor spots further down this display. My only real complaint regarding the body is the evidence of repaired left rear damage. I have an eye for details. 3 photos down from here I fully describe what I discovered. Bottom line: The original finish holds a great shine and gloss. The car shows and presents itself extremely well. Like stepping back to 1987.

PLEASE NOTE: There is evidence of previously repaired left rear damage. I actually owned the car for quite some time before I noticed it. I did not have the opportunity to meet the original owners so I don't have a story to share. It appears that the left rear corner was impacted just below the left tail light. The factory quarter panel was repaired and is still in place but I believe that the bumper and hatch were replaced. I'm assuming this occurred many years ago but I wanted to clearly document it. It's really the only complaint worth noting. The rest of the exterior is day-one original. Also within this photo layout are pictures of the undercarriage and backsides of body panels.

These are original issue Oregon license plates. They have since been replaced with newer style plates and current registration. These originals will be included.

All glass is crystal clear.

I considered having the door handle painted but couldn't bring myself to do it. Years of the previous owners car keys are her finger nails touching the handle. The next owner can make that simple improvement.

All factory alloy wheels are excellent and the tires are new.

I magnified this photo to better show this minor flaw on top of the rear bumper. Only visible when pointed out.

Last of imperfections to show. The driver door edge opened into something that boogered it a little.

Only interior flaw worth mentioning is the passenger door panel.

Even the sunroof shield is still there! I don't think the back seat was ever used.

Everything on the car works! All lights, gauges, heater/AC, wipers with delay function, horn, radio, rear defrost, power windows, power mirrors, and even the cruise control maintains exact speed. The drivers door power door lock works when it feels like it.

Even the factory clock keeps perfect time. The CD player is the only non-original component. It works great and the manual is in the glove compartment. Trunk area is excellent. The sunroof cover is still here.

NO rust or corrosion anywhere on the undersides. Never exposed to salted roads.

The engine is very clean. No thick buildup of grease or grime. Some typical residue but no caked on crud. While snapping these underside photos I did notice a little fresh oil leaking from a valve cover gasket.

This is the left rear corner near the muffler.

This is the backside of the repaired quarter panel I mentioned previously.

The little plastic slide clips go right into place. Anytime the front spoiler touches anything they move inside their grooves. Everything on the front is in remarkable shape. The low spoilers always got damaged but this car is the exception. All of the factory ground effects are excellent.

I really appreciate the interest I've received. Thank you. Can you believe this car was over $15,000 when new?Just for clarification: While I was describing the clutch I left out the word "no" when I said there was no slippage or chatter of any kind. I must have proof read this auction 10 times but somehow I missed that. The clutch grabs perfectly. I actually have some interesting documentation and further technical info. I just figured the write-up was already long enough! Don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks again, DAVE
