Maroon/Burgundy 1967 MGB-GT

1967 MG MGB GT Additional Info:

Up for auction is a 1967 model year MGB-GT with metal dash and non-synchro 1st gear transmission (car was sold and titled in 1968). Often cited as the best year for MGBs. This vehicle is well sorted - a solid, dependable daily driver that you would not be ashamed to be seen in at a British car show. Alternatively, it could be easily restored to further glories without major expense. I have owned 8 or so mid to late 60s Bs over the last 30 years and this one has the strongest and quickest engine of the bunch. It starts immediately, idles smoothly and runs well at speed. The transmission is solid and shifts easily through all gears. No problems with the suspension or steering. The interior (headliner, sidings, seats, carpet) is in very good condition without rips or tears. The metal dash is starting to show some age but is in solid condition. Chrome gauge fittings are starting to get a bit dull and worn – but hey it is a 50 year old car. Glass is in very good condition. The drive side window needs a bit of help to close completely – seems to be slightly off track as it still rolls up and down easily – should be an easy fix. Needs one door pull handle ($10.00). Driver side door seal is in good shape but needs to be re-glued. All the electrical gauges work except the fuel gauge and I have not sorted the problem (float, gauge, or connection?). I just keep track of mileage and make sure to fill up at the end of trip. The speedo sometimes flutters a bit at higher speeds. No issues with fuel pump, starter, or generator. The car is still positive ground. Exteriorly, the maroon paint is in very good condition. The car was garaged by previous owner and myself. As shown in the pics, the doglegs, rocker panels, floor boards/undercarriage, and trunk are solid. Getting under the car, I found one small minor rust area developing at the end of the right rear quarter panel. Minor and an easy fix. Frame is solid. The body panels and doors are straight. The doors align well. Locks work. The chrome wire wheels are true and in very good shape (no broken spokes - no shake or vibration at higher speeds) but they could use a cleaning. Tires have good tread but are over 5 years old. Chrome bumpers are in good condition but are starting to pit in spots. The car does not appear to have any major welding or bondo but I was not owner when last repainted. PO claims the car was once a show winner. Please keep in mind the car is going on 50 years and is a MG not a Rolls. I cannot vouch for the mileage. I start and drive the car on a regular basis but have put less than 2,000 miles on the car in 5 years. I also have a B roadster and MGC but do not have the time to drive and attend to all 3. So, I thinning the herd to a more manageable size. The car is being sold as is and without warranty. I have tried to present the good with bad. If you have questions please send a message. The auction reserve is reasonably low compared to others 67s on the market in a similar or worse condition.
