1991 Mercury Capri XR2 Additional Info:

1991 Mercury Capri XR2 Turbo Convertible One Owner From New Only 32,220 Actual Miles Excellent Documentation – Service Records, Window Sticker, Bill of Sale, Manuals Platinum Metallic on Grey Cloth 1.6L Turbo I4 / 5spd Manual Convertible with Air Conditioning All Original VIDEO WITH LISTING VIN: 6MPCT0366M8611140 We were turned onto this fantastic ‘91 Capri XR2 Turbo Convertible by a friend whose uncle had purchased it new in 1991. Having only covered about 32k summertime miles over the course of his thirty year ownership, he adored this car and took extraordinary care of it. This car has been garage kept, responsibly driven, and dealer-serviced from new and it shows. We love oddball cars like this. Design by Ghia, drivetrain by Mazda, manufactured by Ford in Australia, and sold in the US badged as a Mercury. One heck of a mash-up. And best of all, this is the hottest variant, the XR2 Turbo 5spd Convertible, which came standard with four wheel disc brakes, four wheel independent suspension, XR2 sport suspension, aluminum wheels, sport bucket seats, Hella fog lights, a rear spoiler, and of course the intercooled, turbocharged 1.6L dual overhead cam engine and 5spd manual transmission. The Exterior: Please take a look through the photos and video, as the car is covered in detail. Platinum metallic paint is original throughout and presents extremely well. Cosmetic blemishes are limited to a few small dings (located on the driver door and passenger quarter), a couple scratches on the lower front bumper, and a hairline crack in one of the lower fog lights. Overall extremely impressive, all-original, bone-dry condition. No spots of bubbling or oxidation to be found on the car. Weatherstripping is nice and fresh. Black convertible top is in excellent shape, no scuffs, punctures, creases, etc. Glass is all clear and crack-free with the exception of the aforementioned hairline crack in the fog light lens. Panel fitment is spot-on, doors open and close nice and smooth. Wheels are free of any curb rash, oxidation, or other damage. Tires are in excellent shape as well, no dryness or significant wear, despite being about ten years old. Pop-up headlights are functional, all lights and signals are functional. The Interior: Grey cloth buckets with subtle red stitching is a great look. Seats are comfortable and remain in great shape. No tears, punctures, burst seams, burns, fraying, etc. Consistent with 32k miles of responsible usage. Again, please defer to the photos and video. Grey carpeting shows little to no wear too, impressive considering it has never been swapped out. Grey floormats show minor wear and all four will come with the car. Dash is mint. No warping, damage, cracks, adhesive marks, sun fade, etc. AM/FM/Cassette radio is functional, head and fan are functional, R12 air conditioning blows nice and cold. Under the Hood/Underbody: Please take a look through the underbody photos. Super clean, could very easily be detailed up to look mint. No through rust, no damage, little dabs of yellow factory paint are still visible throughout. This car has been a summer driver only, and always garage-kept. Service History: This car runs and drives beautifully and has been routinely serviced almost exclusively at the original selling dealer, Elmhurst Lincoln Mercury. While it served the original owner as a summer car all its life, it would also make for a cool, fun, and unique daily driver. There are a couple little quirks to be aware of, but none that impede its ability to be driven and enjoyed. The airbag light on the dash will blink sometimes (and always has, according to records through the 90s), and the oil pressure gauge has a tendency to bounce around. This car was professionally gone-over in July 2020 in preparation for the sale; at this time the battery was replaced, headlamp switch replaced, valve cover gaskets replaced, and an oil pressure switch was recommended to correct the wonky reading on the dash gauge but this was not followed through with. Service records that will come with the car, in addition to a number of oil change and fluid top-up receipts, include the following: September 1993 (15,813 miles): Replace soft top, replace windshield seal. May 1999: Replace battery. July 2001 (23,650 miles): Complete inspection, change oil/filter, replace alternator pulley and belt. June 2008 (28,420 miles): Replace brake pads, machine rotors, clean/lube calipers, flush brake fluid. July 2008 (28,430 miles): Replace tires with Dunlop GT Qualifiers, alignment, oil/filter. September 2004 (27,800 miles): Check fuel pressure, replace wire set. July 2020 (32,123 miles): General inspection. Replace battery, replace headlamp switch, replace valve cover gaskets, note – oil pressure good but gauge not accurate, recommend replacing oil pressure switch.
