A Very Rare Pete & Jack Body!!

This Mercury is a tribute to that era in custom car history that marked the beginning of custom builds that to this day street rodders try to duplicate and is known as “The Lead Sled”. The Lead Sled era was that time in our car history when we took 30s 40s and 50s cars and made them super desirable. On the top of that list was one of the most desirable and sought after, not to mention difficult to find Mercury Coupe and especially to find a 49-50 Mercury Coupe. With it's smooth and sleek body lines and very distinctive styling help make these cars super popular for the original buyers back in the 50's but were even more popular for the street-rodders. The 49-50 Mercury Coupe body was by far the one to beat, especially with those chopped tops, shaved handles, finned body panels and let’s not forget the flames.

This Mercury started with the very rare and very limited production Pete and Jack body with its flawless 3" chopped body. Styling included a combination of the original steel body panels with the addition of the custom chopped body. Unique attributes to this build included a fresh 1993 Cadillac Northstar High Output Motor. The Northstar was Cadillac’s Trademark engine assembly, designed for the Allante, bosting an impressive 300 HP and 295 ft. lbs. of torque.

Next up was the stylish addition of the sleeker rear window design of the 39 Mercury given this build that 30s to 40 transitions that showcases that timeless styling that still carries over into street rod builders of today.

No build is complete without some retro so the additions of the Mercedes headlamps helped set this car apart from anything else out there.
