1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator Additional Info:

For sale is this 1969 Cougar Eliminator with the factory Sunroof option. Brief history of this particular option: When Eliminator production began, the first 101 cars produced were optioned with the sunroof. 100 of these cars were ordered by Hertz Rent-A-Car as a new set of “Rent-A-Racers”. Of these 101 cars produced, 25 have been officially accounted for by Cougar Club of America. 1 car has been destroyed. This car for sale is 1 of 2 White with Blue Interior option Sunroof cars known to exist. According to authoritative sources within CCOA, this car’s April 2, 1969 Build Date is the earliest known production date for an Eliminator. This is not the lowest VIN Eliminator on record, however, it’s well known that cars were not necessarily built in order of VIN.

This car as shown has been assembled for display. Car will require complete restoration. It has been in dry storage for the last 20 years. It was involved in a minor collision that resulted in front sheet metal and radiator support damage. Replacement parts for all damaged areas are included with the car. All Eliminator and Cougar specific parts necessary for restoration are included with the car, save the chin spoiler, which is available as a reproduction. The original Eliminator Hood Scoop and Rear Wing Spoiler are included. All sunroof specific parts are included save the cable, which is also available to purchase. This includes the Sunroof Headliner panel and frame. Car features a year correct, but not VIN matching 351 Windsor 4 barrel Engine which turns freely but will need reconditioning. Original FMX transmission, and original rear axle are included. The original Camera Case style Gauge Cluster and matching Dash Clock Panel are included. Original Rim Blow Steering Wheel, featuring no apparent cracks is included. Dash pad is in excellent condition with no apparent cracks or scratches. Original Deluxe Interior door panels and rear interior quarter panels are included and are in relatively good condition. Original seats are included but will need some reconditioning. Original headliner support rods are still installed in order within removed headliner. Original wiring harness has been removed for dry storage and is included amongst the boxed parts. This includes the original turn signal sequencer. As shown on pictures above the quarter panels are in excellent condition with mild surface corrosion apparent at very bottom. Trunk floor pan metal is in very good condition. Cowl area is in very good condition with no apparent major corrosion. Car was repainted once with incorrect spoiler and hood scoop colors. Doors are in very good condition. All window cranks are operational. All original glass is included and in good condition. Wheels are original Ford Styled Steel type with beauty rings which appear to be original. One center cap is the plain, non-GT type. Other 3 caps are GT type with holes filled. Entirely new front suspension was installed prior to placement in storage. All vacuum lines for headlight operation are installed with car.

Passenger side floor pan in front of seat will need repair, as well as passenger side torque box. Driver side pan and torque box appear to be in good condition, as do all frame rails and underbody metal other than mentioned above.
