1965 Mercury Marauder CHROME Additional Info:

1965 MERCURY MARAUDER - BARN FIND - RARE 390, 3-SPEED MANUAL, FACTORY OVERDRIVE. Here is a very unusual find. It is factory correct, numbers matching, 390, 4bbl, 3 on the tree with a rare overdrive. This is definitely not your everyday 1965 Marauder. This car is very nice, but will need a few things to make it roadworthy. It has been in storage since 1998.
It starts, runs, idles excellent. Trans and clutch are very smooth with no chatter or slippage. All lights are working. Gas gauge is not working. Radio is not working. Brakes are working; however due to sitting for a long period, we think it would be wise to service them. Tires are shot and not safe. due to tires, I do not have the courage to get car up to speed enough to determine if the overdrive works.
The body and frame are very solid. The only visible rust is on the left wheel well. All floor pans and frames are nice. All trim is present and good usable condition. The front bumper will need re-chromed. Originally, the car was a light yellow with a black painted top. sometime along the way, it was painted red - obviously many years ago. However, it is shiny and presentable. It does have many chips and imperfections.
The interior is good. The seats retain its original upholstery. it is still nice. seat foam is still firm with no sagging areas. door panels, dash pad, headliner, sunvisors, gauges are all nice for the age. we suspect the carpet has been replaced, but looks stock and original.
This is a locally owned West Virginia car since purchased new. The odometer shows 41,862 miles. we were told the miles are original, but have not been able to verify. Although, except for color change, it is believable. All of the equipment is original including the carb, radiator, engine, trans, and rear. The dual exhaust has a nice, quiet, mellow stock sound. It is in good condition with no leaks. We have not noticed any leaks under engine, trans or rear.
This is an unusual, full-size early FOMOCO MUSCLE CAR that can be road-worthy in a weekend. It is a true bargain at the "buy it now" price! Feel free to contact me with any questions at 304-261-1643. Clear title in my name, so no paperwork challenges.
