1955 Mercury Monterey Wagon Additional Info:

Just a few hundred miles on Mechanical/Electridcal and body/structural restoration ~3.5 years ago. Paint was not done as most folks like the way it looks now with the patina. Seats are recently recovered and carpet replaced, but rest of interior needs to be done (Headliner looks good). The Paint/Interior needs completion depending upon your end goal. Mileage isunknown, so just entered "9's".
I listed the work completed and left to be done below:
New
- Engine: BluePrint 331 Stroker
- TCI overdrive transmission
- Wiring
- Fuel: tank and lines
- Brakes: All new including lines. I found 3 NOS drums, but not a fourth, so used the best of the four that were on the car and it was in fine shape.
- Suspension: rear leafs, front coils, shocks.
- Inner/outer rockers.
- Floor pans
- Carpet to back of middle seat ( carpet set doesn't include from middle seat back, but I have the carpet material to complete)
- Radiator
Needs to be done depending on your goal:
- Gauges, only fuel works. I expect others, such as oil, need the sending unit matched to the dash.
- All weather stripping (glass, windows, doors, etc...) needs to be replaced.
- Carpet needs installed from middle seat back. I have the carpet material.
- Door Panels, window lace
- Bumpers/external trim repair/rechrome
- Windshield has a few rock chips.
- Wipers nonfunctional
- Climate control there but not functional. Ibelieve the heater core/blower have been replaced, but I haven't troubleshot why it's not turing on (could be just hooking up theswitch etc...) - I would yank what's there and install a Vintage Air system.- Glass appears original. Windshield has a few chips.
- Tires have good tread but are aged.

Interesting update on Vehicle history I received from a fellow Ebayer:

"RON SINGLETON, KNOWN FOR THE BIG DADDY DONGARLICSMUSEUM, CAR BUILDER, AND TOP FUEL TEAM MEMBER OF LAST RACE 2003 GATORNATIONALS. HE SAVED THE DAY FOR DON AFTER DON CRASHED THE CAR.

RON HAS BEEN BUILDING REAL COOL WOODIES AS WELL AS RAT RODS, PATINA'S ETC. HE BUILT ED ROTHS YELLOW FANG CAR, SWAMP RATS EARLY CARS SPOT REPAIRED LITTLE RED WAGON, AND REBUILT CRETES GREER & DONAVENS DRAG CAR, AS WELL AS "DONS BABY" HIS STREET ROD 32 HEMI CAR.

THIS WOODY CAR WAS ONE OF HIS FIRST TEN CARS, SOLD TO AUSTRAILIA, AND LEFT FOR PORT IN CA. THE SHIPPER WAST NOT A LEGIT GUY, AND CAR WAS ABANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET IN L.A. AT A DIFF. PORT AUTHORITY. LOOK AT THE DRIVERS DOO, THAT IS HOW THE CAR GOT THE RON'S SURF IN OCALA, FL. RON IS A SEMI RETIRED DETECTIVE, AND STILL BUILDS CARS FOR RONALD MC DONALDS HOUSE CHARITIES . WITH THE HELP OF STREET SIDE CLASSICS, TAMP, FL."

This lines up with what I know as I did it buy it from an Australian guy who was going to ship it backto Australia but changed his mind, and the pick up point was at a Port Authority in LA.
