1987 Mercedes-Benz 500-Series Stunning, 11k Miles, Collector Quality Additional Info:

Sporting a mere 11,850 original miles and finished in timeless and desirable Black over Tan leather, offered for sale is arguably the finest, lowest mileage 560SEC on the market. Sold new by Prestige Motors, Inc. to a wealthy businessman from Saddle River, NJ, the car was always kept as a pristine weekend driver, always garaged and used sparingly and only in fair weather seasons. In 2000, with 9,789 miles, the car was sold to its second owner in nearby Toms River, NJ, where its pampered existence continued.

It comes as no surprise, then, that the car’s deep black finish is in excellent condition, marred only by the most negligible of imperfections, none of which are significant enough to appear in any of the photographs. The body is entirely straight with consistent and correct panel fits and gaps. All of the glass, rubber and chrome is in fantastic shape, as are the bumpers and lower body trim. The original alloy wheels are flawless, showing none of the discoloration that is typical to cars of this era, and they’re wrapped in correct Continental tires with plenty of remaining tread.

The car’s interior is truly showroom perfect, the seats, carpets, interior panels and headliner all showing absolutely no wear. The seats were always protected by sheepskin covers, which are included, as is an impeccable set of Mercedes floor mats. The dash is free of cracks or warping and houses fully functioning switchgear and gauges. The power sunroof, power seats, seatbelt assists, heated seats, power windows, air conditioning, temperature controls and original Becker radio all function properly. The car comes with its original books and manuals, as well as all of its original keys and a clean CARFAX report.

The car is also mechanically excellent, the engine starting without hesitation, idling smoothly and pulling strongly through each of the transmission’s gears. Road manners are top notch, as are handling and braking, and the car is comfortable whether tooling through town running errands or bombing down the highway. Built for the Autobahn, the tried and true M117 5.6L V8 engine leaps into action when asked, providing trademark Mercedes torque and pulling the car quickly from 50mph to 100mph. Having spent its life garaged and never exposed to the elements, the car’s undercarriage is completely rust-free and solid.

This is an uncommon opportunity to acquire what is likely the finest, lowest mileage example remaining of one of Mercedes’ most impressive models. With a vast majority of the 560SECs produced having been driven into the ground, finding clean, low mileage examples is rare today and ever more so. It’s our opinion that because of their timeless designs, relative technological simplicity and uncompromised build quality, 560SECs are one of the final models produced by Mercedes that will ever achieve classic or collector car status, continuing to appreciate in the years to come. Whether you’re in the market as a devoted Mercedes collector or just an enthusiast with an appreciation for the 560SEC’s unique design and quality, this incredible example deserves your serious consideration.
