1959 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 220S Additional Info:

My mom was right when she said my eyes were too big for my stomach. I have an incurable appetite for cool cars but an inability to restore them all to their greatness. I’m no Spring chicken anymore and I need to thin the herd.I bought this car in Denver some years back because I always loved this body style and the especially the incomparable wood throughout the interior. I have always garaged it as did the people I got it from. This car is original and still rides and drives. It could use some help in the mechanical department though. The brakes pull hard to one side. I have had the carbs gone through but these Solex’s still have some issues. I have had it running great but let it sit for a while and it’s not so hot. I believe the engine is sound as it has run great from time to time. The 4 speed on the column shifts well, reverse is good too. The oil pressure gauge pegs at 45 as it should. It holds coolant, warms up to temp, and charges it’s new battery.I believe this is original paint which shines very well. The right rear fender has some chips and there’s a couple on the left front. There are two small dents on the right front. The interior is incredible. I have to think it has been reupholstered because it’s so nice, but I can't tell. The texture in the seats matches the door panels perfectly. All the door panels are perfect as are the seats. The chrome looks great and the missing pieces are in the trunk. The carpet is not original. Now I have to talk about the wood. They don’t make them like this anymore. All of the window surrounds (mouldings) except the back glass are wood. Even the windshield. The glove box is curved as is the rest of the desk. The rear ash trays dump their ashes into their own collection bowls every time you shut them. There are dual heater cores giving you separate temp control on each side of car. All of the wood is in wonderful condition. It must have taken quite an impressive bunch of woodworkers to make this.I hate to get too lengthy but I must discuss the rust or lack there of. There’s is none. Zero. I have had it up in the air and looked everywhere. There is not a bubble in the paint anywhere. It’s as good as it gets.To summarize, get the mechanicals back to full strength, a little touch up and you’ll be delighted.
