1968 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Additional Info:

1968 230 Heckflosse sedan finished in DB124 Arabian Gray with black interior. This is the last year of this model and first year with correct factory-installed side-marker lights, and other items. Always turns heads and I have taken it to a few car events, everyone likes it. Factory-installed options include 2 rare headrests and right-side exterior mirror, plus front "bench" seat insert. It is difficult to find even one optional headrest for this model and this car has two.Kuhlmeister working air conditioner (It was cold last year, it needs to be recharged or converted). The car left the factory on July 7, 1967. Only two previous owners: the original owner purchased it new in early September, 1967 at R&H Motors in Baltimore. The second owner had it for 32 years, during which she attended Pennsylvania State University. In the mid-1980s, the second owner had a completely rebuilt engine professionally installed from another 230 sedan of the same year. She also had the car repainted in the original Arabian Gray. The paint is extremely glossy and the depth of the color is amazing. The car was undercoated by Ziebart in the 1980s (or earlier) and it shows. The undercarriage is very clean, somesoft spots here and there but very solid. All solid fenders, doors, etc. There are a few imperfections in the paint, most notably there are two areas that look like they were re-touched: the lower corner of driver's door and right rear fin area. these are not too noticeable unless you were really staring at the car only because the color is slightly off. I believe they were sprayed as touch-ups from scratches, the blending is good but the color is slightly off.A perfectionist could probably color-blend these two areas a little better to be perfect. There is a rust bubble starting about an inch long under rear driver fender, not noticeable if you are standing. There is a 6" crease on the rear passenger fender horizontal with the fender-line so not so noticeable. I was told Dent Works at the Mercedes dealer can suction this to look perfect without damaging the paint.
Exterior:Very sharp-looking car with excellentPaint is deep and glossy with amazing depth and shineThe sheet metal is clean and the doors open and close easily. Grease has been properly pressed into the hinges and there is no drag when opening/closing.Chrome is very good overall. The aluminum trim under and around windows needs to be buffed with a power buffer/polish. Other areas like bumpers are very nice although rear bumper has some parking dings. Included in the sale is a spare left rear bumper that looks fantastic. Other chrome areas such as the grille and those around the rear lights look very, very good.Brand new tires, less than 100 miles on them.

Interior:Seats and door panels are clean with no tears or rips. Nice firmness.Optional front middle piece included in sale (see pic). All equipment and guages are working Including temp guage, gas tank, oil pressure, etc. The clock is working (runs slow).Dashboard very nice with the exception of a small crack behind instrument cluster (not noticeable) and a small puncture? mark (see photo)Steering wheel in perfect condition with zero cracks or fading. Wood glove box and ashtray have original factory finish in excellent condition. Included in the sale is the original "230" radio plate. There is a wiper scratch mostly on passenger-side windshield, this can be buffed-out with glass compound.Rear view mirror has speckling.Seatbelt- the front passenger side is missing the the right stap/buckle.Upgraded additional third safety brake light in rear glass works/looks great!
Mechanicals:New battery only four months old. Starts, runs and drives very well. Plenty of power. No smoking engine. It was completely rebuilt in the 1980s so mileage unknown but it feels powerful and feels like there is a lot of life in it. Power steering a bit squeeky. Transmission shifts a little hard between gears, I think it can be adjusted to be smoother. Brakes firm and responsive, and emergency brake also working perfectly. Shocks working perfectly. Steering could use a good alignment.
