1982 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 380 SL Additional Info:

One of the most beautiful cars of the 70's and 80's. In the 80's it was a must have for doctors, pharmaceutical reps, and their attorneys. It has a V8 3.8 liter engine and although I don't drive it a whole lot, it seems to be good on gas, especially compared to the 560SL.This car has not been restored but has been well maintained. It starts right up and drives well. It is driven at least twice per week. I replaced the soft top last year and it has the hard top on most of the time. The paint is shiny, but is starting to bubble in some places. I bought all the weather strips but haven't decided to dive into it yet. It really shows well. In fact it really looks better than it is. It will be a cheap and quick restoration because it is in pretty good shape for a 35 year old car. We no longer have a garage for it, so I will not have a place to keep it for a while. I can only hope to replace it in the future. I bought the car from a local retired doctor and I had to sign for the odometer not working, which is common in these cars. It is an easy fix but it didn't really bother me because its an amazing car for the money. I am always more concerned with the condition and motor because these cars often show signs of tampering because of the odometer slipping. My intention was to restore it but I really didn't find it extremely important because its a great looking car in good shape. It has a stereo with CD an analog phone from the 80's (not connected, but takes you back). Cold A/C, good tires. Newer Interior rugs. Always serviced and has never given me any issues. The negatives: for a 35 year old classic I think it is in great shape, but I would like to do a few things to it. I would take it to a body shop, strip it down to work on any rust spots, and then paint it again in the same color. This will buy the body a new extended life. Then I bought all of the weather seals (in the trunk). Have all that replaced. This should not be more than about $3000 for a great job and the car will really appreciate it.I would love the buyer to come see it before bidding, but if you cannot, any reasonable person would be happy with this car for under $10k. compare before you bid.
If you are in the market for a classic SL, I highly recommend you come check this one out. Please feel free to call with any questions. You can buy it now or wait for the auction.Cheers!Rick 305-335-5843
