1987 Mercedes-Benz Hearse/ Station Wagon Custom Conversion Body Additional Info:

Offered for sale, a classic W124 body Mercedes-Benz hearse. The chassis is a 230TE station wagon that has been lengthened and converted into a hearse bya professional coach builder in Japan. It is powered by the reliable and fuel efficientM102 four cylinder enginebacked by a smooth shifting automatic transmission.
Mechanically, this rare and unique vehicle is in pristine condition with only 53,965 on the clock; it starts, runs, and drives as new. The mechanicals all look good on visual inspection. All fluids topped up and reasonably clean, no major fluid leaks obvious. Engine, transmission and diffs are all reasonably dry after 30 years of service, only the sort of light gasket and boot seepage you’d expect from normal use. Shocks and brakes are dry, bushings and ball joints and exhaust all in good shape. In short, nothing alarming was discovered on casual inspection. The tires could use refreshing, but even on these tires it drives out great. Exterior is in excellent condition with no dents or paint blemishes other than a couple small paint cracks behind the rear doors. If this vehicle is going to be stored outdoors the vinyltop needs to be resealed or replaced, but a vehicle of this caliber deserves indoor storage anyway. Interior is incrediblyclean with the seats and panels being in great condition. The only interiordefect is an aftermarket dash cover that has some cracks. This was a common problem with German plastic of this era, and aftermarket covers are readily available.
This remarkable vehicle is a Euro-spec car that was imported to Japan when new, where the hearse conversion was flawlessly done by theTecno First company,a coach builderlocated in Kanagawa Japan with a tradition of building world class hearses. After only 54K miles of faithful service in Japan this one-of-a-kind vehicle was legally imported into the US by a private collector. Space considerations necessitatethe sale of this unique automobile. All import requirements have been met; it's fully legal and being sold with Vermontregistration.
