1976 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Additional Info:

IMPORTANT!!!!!!!! READ EVERYTHING BEFORE BIDDING!!!!!!!!!!
I have my 1976 Mercedes 300D up for sale.
The good:-Only 147k miles (rolled over once on the odometer). Extremely low miles, especially for a diesel of this age. Will be really difficult finding one with mileage that low.-Seats and upholstry are in fairly good condition for its age- When it was running, it never left me stranded on the side of the road. When it runs, it runs like a charm.-Have spare body panels, grill, and instrument cluster that will come with the car.-Currently have a partially installed glowplug bypass system included with the car. I will email the buyer the pdf instructions. Approx $200 value.- Brand spanking new Monark pencil glowplugs.
The not so good.-I was stopped driving it for a month because I went out of town on vacation then got a new job that had me working 7 days a week. I drove this car for pleasure so stopped driving it for a while due to my new job. I disconnected the battery as well. Then one day, I opened the hood to start replace the old glow plugs and install the bypass system when I saw a mouse's nest in the engine bay. I cleaned it out and didn't think much of it until I was almost finished installing the glowplug bypass. I reconnected the battery, heard a loud pop, saw smoked starting to come from the wires, and smelled burning plastic. It turned out the mice chewed through the wires to the alternator and caused a short circuit and pretty much ruined the entire wire from the alternator, if not the whole wiring harness. Will need a serious overhaul or even replacement of the wiring harness. The car can be started and running, but it will have no electrical power. The beauty of these cars is that the fuel pump is mechanical, so as long as you have enough fuel and don't turn the car off, the car will keep running though will be at risk of overheating and you will be at risk of being pulled over due to no electricity to power the cooling fan or lights. Because of work, I don't have time to fix it.-Unfinished installation of the glowplug bypass system due the the aforementioned issue. The original glowplug system wouldn't work occasionally and I wanted the pencil glow plugs to be able to start better in colder weather.-No radio.-no carpet on the floor and no interior trunk covering.-Minor rust in the trunk-Play in the steering.
I also ran the car on waste oil. Never had an issue with it.
I lost the title but ordered a replacement, which should come in a couple of days. I will post an update when it arrives.BUYER WILL BE 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING! NO EXCEPTIONS! BUYER WILL NEED TO TOW THE CAR DUE TO THE AFOREMENTIONED ISSUES.
I will be moving on Feb 2. I'll be only moving a couple of miles away but if the seller doesn't pick up the car by then, I will charge the tow fee to tow the car to my new address. I live in an apartment and apt. management will not allow me to keep the car there after I move out.
I will be willing to email potential buyers more pictures upon request. I want to be very honest and upfront with everything on the car. I will not hide anything from anyone.
By bidding, you agree that you have read and are fully aware of the condition and status of the car.
