Attention Indiana automobile collectors!

For sale isone 1969Mercedes Benz 300 SEL 6.3 VIN 109.018-12-002464 deliveredby MB Germany new toWorld Wide Motors of Indianapolis, Indiana, USA as built for Mr. Thomas Lake, a noted Indianapolis philanthropist and once president // board of directors member of Eli Lilly. The extra wear on the right rear black leather bench seat along with the solitary extra black floor mat occupying the right rear floor also with the pen holder attached to the turn signal stick would indicate “chauffer driven” to this grandson of a Mercedes chauffer. Interesting to note that a simple Google search shows Mr. Lake was a 1988-1989 contributor to USA’s Vice President elect Michael Pence’s early congressional campaigns which shows a certain “visionary” touch.

The second owner is listed in the MB maintenance book as another Indianapolis notable as Mr Thomas J Hibbeln.

Whether Mr. Lake and Mr. Hibbeln did the sale or trade of the automobile as friends or colleagues needs to be researched through the respective families.

The as built option code tag present in the engine compartment shows the following:

306 - Air conditioner - present

491 - US version – MB factory installed Kangol safety belts all present and functioning front and rear.

503 - Outside rear view mirror, left - present

519 - Becker radio Grand Prix LM/MW/SW/USW – USA (removed by previous owner(s))531 - Hirschmann automatic antenna - present

811 - Loudspeaker sound package in the rear. (removed by previous owner(s))

180G silver paint with black leather interior

Optional limited slip differential

The automobile is in need of a full restoration – is solid throughout with the exception of the trunk lid and left rear spare tire well reinforcement (pictured) The engine ran when parked 5 years ago – but according to the previous owner the engine requires the right side head replaced as it is cracked.
