1968 Lotus Europa Additional Info:

Lotus Europa 460321 S1A; not too many left in the world in this condition. This vehicle was rescued from a barn demolition in winter 2007. Very complete but not driven since 1976. I purchased the car as a winter project for my shop; YEAH RIGHT. 11 years later plus 2 heart attacks; 2 replaced hips, a fused neck and a blown out eye and here you have it; not too bad. Front 3/4 frame surgically removed and reconstructed. Suspension "I" made out of 12 ga. steel. Typical thin lotus fiberglass. Never wrecked. Engine run real nice. Interior is banks inspired. If you have taken the time to read this, you know what this car is and the effort involved to get it this far. I don't need to quote "Hagerty" on the history of the Lotus Europa. Lots of fabrication and thought; lots of new parts; Brakes, tires, lights, hoses, front and rear suspension, sealed tank, functional turn signals, custom carpet, headliner, hydraulic rear deck struts, race car style side windows, Spal fan keeps everything nice and cool.
I know there is more.. sooooo.... If you can; come look. Contact me with questions. We built this car. We are a small repair garage with a reputation for doing this kind of thing. It is not a show car, But...Real Nice.

Thank you for all of your comments and questions. I guess I have to explain a little about the S1 and S1a. These cars were known as the light weights. The cars had a slightly lower stance and were not primarily made to be sold in the US market. This particular car had dash decals written in French. Lotus did not care if the cars were loud and had weird transmission noises. They had to build a certain number of cars to qualify for racing; and that they did, by kicking the crap out of everything in their class. This particular car RUNS and DRIVES. Do you see the dual exhaust ? Those pipes are attached to a short Flow Master; The air intake ( strange red tubes) is tuned to motorcycle specs for maximum air flow. When I fabricated the chassis, I made the front section that the suspension mounts to out of 12 gauge plate for strength. I also bonded the chassis back into the body for strength. My intention was to autocross this Lotus but my physical health did not allow this to happen. I can not get into the vehicle well let alone get out. If you have BIG feet DO NOT BID. The car does have adjustable pedals of sorts and an adjustable steering column. If you are shorter than 5'6" DO NOT BID; seats are fixed. Tall people fit but not tall people with " BIG MITS". I welcome phone calls and visits. This now a no reserve auction. Someone will win this car and I need for you to know exactly on what you are bidding BEFORE you win. Do not ask questions after the end of the auction, at that point it is your car.
