1980 Lotus Esprit Additional Info:

1980 LOTUS ESPRIT S2 that was last licensed in 2003. It suffered a crankshaft failure and has been in storage since. I obtained it a few months ago but I have too many projects, getting older and health has not been good lately.
Original red paint, weathered and needs a repaint. NO damage or cracks in body nor to I see any apparent rust anywhere.
Interior is all leather and needs upholstery job. Headliner and back panel are OK but dash, pod, console, seats and door panels have damage, etc.
It will need bumpers and some side trim. All badges are complete and good. Original correct wheels are in perfect condition including spare. Tires are old.
Engine is mostly re-built. Head is done with new valves, guides, It has twin Dellorto Carbs and the "E" cams.
Crankshaft has been replaced with ground .010" under and has new bearings. Gasket set is also there.
Pistons have been cleaned and new rings included. Pistons show minor wear.. Rods have been fitted with new bushings. The cylinder sleeves are worn excessively. My solution is to bore the sleeves to oversize and buy new pistons - Euro spec. With the Dellorto carbs, you can get back to 160 HP. Then sell the standard USpistons on E-Bay. Net - cheapest and best. Then definitely have the engind assembled and balanced. The machinist I use in Colorado Springs estimated about $1000. Lotus forged pistons are $650 - 700. old pistons should bring 200 - 300. So for less than $2K -------
Items missing on the car that I know of include console cover. Muffler system. Bumper covers.
A complete hard copy of an original Lotus is also included.
Car is located in Peyton, Colorado (near Colorado Springs). Car is sold as is where is, without warranties.
I am available to help load most anytime. Car must be fully paid in 7 days after close of auction and can be picked up after funds clear. I will be happy to store the Lotusfor up to 30days after auction. Possible to do more but we need to talk. Thanks, for looking, Ray Lynn 719-337-5755

Car is a factory A/C .car. Hard copy of original Lotus workshop manual is included.
Headliner is in good condition, but you will probably want to re-do the interior. I have 2 full leather cow hides (45 - 50 sq ft each) in the taupe color and 2 each (60+ sq ft each)of the dark brown colorthat I had planned to do the entire car. If you buy the car, I will sell these hides for an additional total price of $600. Sucessful bidder will need to let me know and I can adjust invoice accordingly.
