A bit of history:

Series Land Rovers were the first ever 4x4introducedfor civilian use,and first all road sport utilityvehicle inavailableback in 1948.They are regardedas historically significant for being the grandfathers of the SUV segment.
1970 is the last production year of the Series 2A. It is visually almost identical to the original 1948 model, keeping it's metallicmesh grill and dashboard, center instrument cluster etc,yet this modelbenefits fromadded rigidity and tech advancements developed through decades of production.
2A is the absoluteiconic '60 model appearinginnumerousT.V. series and films- it is regarded by many as the most collectible of the early Land rovers.
Description:
This Series 2A was manufactured by Rover Co.LTD in February 1970 at the Solihull Factory, England and shipped for assemblyin Cota Rica. It had been Kept indoors in original condition, unused for decades when I discoveredit,imported it to the U.S.andrebuilt it an outstanding condition.
When discovered,the Land Rover'sbody was absolutely straight and it didn't have any frame rust or missing parts, nevertheless it was fully restoredto excellence by specialiststo become one of the bestDieselLand Rover Series in the U.S.The aluminium body had gone through a fantastic off frame restoration without compromising any of it's originality- all factory double sided wields and old fashioned rivets show exactly as they did 47 years ago.All usable original parts were reused preserving this Land Rover's priceless antique patina.
Original (matching numbers) diesel engine was rebuilt by a specialist and functions like new. so were the diesel pump, starter (still under warranty) etc.For improved practicality, a new alternator replaced the original dynamo and a new 4 core radiator (designed to look like the original) had just been installed. Buyer will get the original radiator as well.
The canvastopis a year old, looks great and seals tight. It relies on a period correct conversion frame that adds an extra inch of head room to the driver and front passengers. Side mirrors were upgraded to the '71 modelfor better drivability.
