1987 Jeep Wrangler YJ Additional Info:

You're looking at a super clean, 100% rust free Jeep Wrangler from Southern Arizona that runs and drives as good as it looks with zero mechanical issues and only 125,400 original miles. It has been serviced from stem to stern so that every wearable part and fluid is either new or inspected OK to ensure that a new owner will have years of trouble free service. The only issue is strictly cosmetic, having old faded paint. Anybody could jump in this Jeep and drive it coast to coast needing nothing but gasoline.
1ST GENERATION WRANGLER YJ HISTORY:Produced for the model years 87-95, the new Wrangler YJ was created to replace the CJ and be more comfortable on-road.It was a significantly new design with a wider track, more comfort and improved handling. It still utilizedleaf spring suspensionsimilar to that of the CJ but the springs were wider withtrackbarsuspension linksandanti-roll barsfor improved handling, making it safer and less tippy for inexperienced drivers.
MECHANICALS:4.2L straight 6 cylinder engine always starts with a turn of the key. Purrs like an industrial sewing machine. No smoke, no knocks, no leaks, no issues. Fresh tune up and oil change. New battery. New aluminum radiator. New thermostat.New coolant.New water pump. New fan clutch. New fuel pump. New fuel filter. New serpentine belt. New gear oil in all 4 cases. Runs cool and quiet. Gobs of low end torque. Factory equipped with Power Steering and Power brakes. None of the factory emissions components have been altered or modified.
5 Speed manual transmission shifts tight and smooth. Clutch replaced with machined flywheel at 100k. Have receipt.
Transfer case smoothly engages the 4x4 which works as designed.
INTERIOR:Super clean. Seats have no rips, no tears, no stains or blemishes. All the gauges work. All the signals and factory lights work. The heat blows hot.A Grant GT steering wheel was added for a better feel but the horn doesn't work. The speedometer works but appears to show a slightly faster speed than you're actually going and at 30 mph the needle will sometimes bounce. The factory roll cage is padded. The floor has been professionally bed lined for easy maintenance. 3 locking Tuffy steel security lock boxes have been installed. One acts as the center console and features 2 cup holders. The other 2 are mounted over the rear wheel wells. There's no AC option. The stereo deck is missing the face plate. There is no back seat which allows plenty of cargo area. A yellow "Club" steering wheel lock with key will be included.
SUSPENSION, WHEELS & TIRES:New 3" Rancho lift springs along with Rancho long travel shocks. New poly bushings and sway links. New transmission and transfer case drop brackets. Newer 32 inch BFG mud tires on factory Jeep aluminum rims. New 2" billet aluminum wheel spacers with grade 10 studs professionally installed with Lock-Tite to give a wider stance because when you lift up you also want to sit wider to compensate for a higher center of gravity.
FRAME, BODY & EXTERIOR:There's not a speck of rust anywhere on the frame or body as this Jeep's always lived in Tucson where the Air Force chooses to mothball all their old aircraft in case they ever want to press them back into service. The frame is fully boxed steel, the strongest design for any 4x4, and in fact was the only vehicle made in North America with a fully boxed frame back in 1987.
This Jeep has never been wrecked. It has been repainted at least once a long time ago and the paint is fading in some areas with a few chips showing. Abrand new full soft top was just installed. Brand new soft doors are included but have never been installed. They're rolled up and stowed in one of the rear lock boxes.
The 4 aftermarket KC lights all work but are not currently wired up to the switch under the dash. There are grill-style aftermarket off-road headlight and taillight protectors installed. An aftermarket chrome rear differential cover was added. Hood mountedHigh Lift jack locks with key and doesn't rattle thanks to a rubber isolator. Rock Ski rail armor was installed to protect the rocker panels. There's a frame mounted Class III receiver hitch out back.
BUMPERS:A pair of Smittybilt aftermarket bumpers were professionally mounted. The rear bumper features a handy spare tire carrier that also swing out when you pull a pin to allow rear cargo access.
FLAWS & BLEMISHES:Any 31 year old vehicle that hasn't had a frame off restoration is bound to have some minor flaws & blemishes that are hard to show up in pictures but I've done my best to describe them throughout.
PAPERWORK:
Clean and clear notorized "A Box" Arizona title in hand.
INSURANCE:Because it's over 25 years old this Jeep is not only eligible for historic plates in any State but also it's eligible for Collector Car insurance from outfits like Grundy Worldwide or Haggerty which only costs $12 per month for a $10,000 stated full coverage policy. That's right, a full coverage policy is only $12 per month and emissions are forever waived. I repeat. Collector Car Insurance means no more emissions and a cheap monthly nut on full coverage insurance.
INVESTMENT:Because of their fully boxed steel frames and tons of aftermarket support, older Wranglers typically go up in value every year even while you drive them, providing one of the best investments in the automotive world today.
CONTACT:Email through eBay or Call52O-Nine 77-O112for any questions prior to clicking which is highly encouraged.
FEEDBACK:If you have ZERO feedback and are serious about this Jeepthen before doing anything please be sure to call the number above so we can establish that you're not a squirrel. It won't take more than a couple minutes so please just do it or your offer will be cancelled. Unfortunately this is required due to the notorious reputation of eBay rookies for being impulsive non-paying bidders.
BUYER NOTE:For those new to eBay or nervous about buying a vehicle over the internet, that's understandable, but think about these stubborn facts for a moment. I've been selling vintage 4x4's along with vintage parts on eBay for 18 years. Some 15 years ago I happened to sell a vintage Early Bronco to an eBay seller who runs a large scale pawn shop in Philadelphia with tens of thousands of feedbacks and he taught me this important eBay rule of thumb. Every positive feedback is worth about a dollar of trust. That means if you're buying something, say a special vintage carburetor for $300, then ideally the seller will have at least 300 positive feedbacks. This is just an ideal rule of thumb mind you. It's not etched in stone but rather a simple guideline or compass for action. So if there's somebody's selling a $7,000 vehicle with only 32 feedbacks I'd be leery. Doesn't mean it's not legit, it's just that there's not much track record. By contrast if a seller's asking $7k for a vehicle and has more than 12k positive feedbacks, well then you can rest easier for you can ask yourself why would they risk throwing away their whole business model, their decades old hard earned feedback reputation for only $7k? The answer is they wouldn't.
JUSTSO YOU KNOW:When you tender an OFFER on eBay it's just like a bid, actually it's equivalent to a BUY NOW simply because if that OFFER is accepted, you've then suddenly "entered into a legally binding contract for sale". That's per the TOS (Terms of Service) agreement you accepted when becoming an eBay member. The point is when you tender an OFFER you need not only be truly committed but also have the funds in place and your wife's permission because, for example, at auction's like Barrett-Jackson if you raise a paddle then renig on a bid they ruin your credit score the same as a loan default. This is not a video game. It takes lots of preparation time to present a vehicle like this on a public auction. It's no joke. This is serious business. Ebay auctions follow the same protocols and rules as any public auction, in other words, please don't click if you can't meet the terms below.
IMPORTANT AUCTION TERMS SO PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.As noted from the outset, per the eBay "Terms of Service" (TOS) that you agreed to when registering your OFFER, should it be accepted, "constitutes a legally binding contract for sale" so don't start clicking if you're not committed to buy with funds in place and wife's permission. Please also make sure the phone number and address you have registered with eBay is current and if you're planning to use PayPal for the deposit that you have liquid funds ready to go that are not in the form of an E-Check which takes 5 or more days to clear, in other words, be a responsible bidder whose got their act together and doesn't have a bunch of excuses.
Inspection prior to bidding is welcome as vintage vehicles are always sold AS IS with no warranty expressed or implied.
PAYMENT TERMS:A non-refundable deposit of $1000 either viaonline PayPal payment orcard over phone through Square is due within 24 hours of auction close.
Full balance of Payment is due within 72 hours of auction close by either direct bank to bank wire transfer, or you can overnight envelope a Cashiers Check, or pay cash in person. PayPal for the full balance is not an option, however a credit or debit card payment through Square.com is, so long as buyer is willing to pay the 3% fees.
SHIPPING:All shipping arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the buyer however we will always help your shipper coordinate the loading to the best of our ability. It all begins by calling the number above. Figure shipping any vehicle East of the Mississippi is about a grand. West is less. We will store the vehicle free for 21 days after sale. There is a $15 per day storage fee thereafter unless other arrangements are pre-dickered. Note that many naive rookie eBayers imagine that they'll jump on a plane to Tucson, pay in cash in person, and drive home. In most cases that's wrong. Not because the Jeep will have issues but rather because you won't get cheap airfare to Tucson, you won't have legal plates driving home, the wind noise on long highway drives will drive you nuts, and the overall trip costs (plus gas) is way more than you think.
