1978 Jeep CJ Chrome Additional Info:

Original ACTUAL MILES 4,964!!!

Imagine going down the road or trail with the top down in this vintage beauty or showing it off your friends or at the show.

It has been painted Yamaha Red with black top and chrome accents. Originally from Chicago and brought to CT to use as a plow. It has never been titled/registered for street use (but it definitely can be!) It is still on the original factory manufacturer's statement of origin, and the miles are actual at 4,964.

This is the story behind this Jeep.

This Jeep was delivered from the Jeep Corporation to Barrington Motor Sales on 9/9/1977 and was in sold in May 1978 to a local RV dealer with 171 miles on it. They used it as a plow truck and to move small RVs around their lot.

By 1992 they had outgrown the need for the CJ5 and started to use tractors, was purchased it on 11/28/1992 with just 2,400 miles on it. For many years it was a backup plow due to us having another plow that serviced our needs. Started to use it in 1996. Only one person has plowed and driven this Jeep the total time we have had it.

This Jeep starts and plows great. Over the years we have replaced and fixed things on it and it is in good working condition now. The engine is original, it is not rebuilt with some other brand or anything like Jeep’s this vintage. It is therefore a wonderful collectors or restoration Jeep.

The Jeep left the Toledo Ohio plant painted Yellow, but was repainted in 1992 with Yamaha Red with a black top. No it is not an ex-mail Jeep, the top was made by Meyers Snow Plows and was part of the original package with the 6 1/2 foot plow.

The body does have rust, remember it is 44 years old, but the frame is rock solid due to many many coats of rustproofing. The under chassis needs to be cleaned and brushed free of build up, and has the usual light rust (they salt the roads in this area). Again, a great restoration project.

It is the 258 cid 6 cyl model from this year with the 3 speed manual transmission. It has a good clutch and synchros.

You can see the stock rims, not many found all stock like this in the world, especially not with such low, low miles.

Remember this is a 44 year old Jeep, it runs great but it is going to need a tub restoration or later. It also needs heater blower motor, other then that great heater. Selling because we’re moving.

We will ship to you for around $600. I will get you an exact quote but basically that price (you will pay only the exact shipping). Or you can pick up. I do need $997 down on this within 48hrs of the close of the auction, just because there are so many spurious bidders out there. And because this is a collectible and pretty hot item, I’ll need to have payment and pickup or payment and shipping instructions within 3-4 days of the close.

Again, beautiful Jeep looking for a great home! These are the forerunner to the wrangler and can be sported and tricked out as you like or kept stock like this one is.

Happy bidding!
