1985 Jeep CJ Additional Info:

What is there to say about the CJ7 that hasn't already been said? This 1985 Jeep CJ7 is the ultimate go-anywhere fun machine, and to enjoy the Jeep lifestyle you don't have to settle for a clapped-out beater, either. This one is quite nice and ready to enjoy without a second thought.Remember, this is a time before luxurious 4x4s were the norm, so the flashy graphics and chrome bumpers definitely helped it stand out. With most CJ7s being used hard and put away wet, this one seems to have lived an easy life and doesn't show the usual bumps and bruises from a life lived in the dirt. Instead, it was probably someone's weekend fun toy, and for that task it's ideally suited. The glossy black paint is in excellent condition from front to back, and shows none of the usual issues in places like the wheel arches and tailgate. Instead, it has a brilliant shine that looks appropriate on a fun vehicle that likes to get dirty, the silver graphics remain sharp and well-adhered to the body, and while Jeeps are rugged, basic machines, there are signs that it was treated like something special everywhere you look. Rubber fender flares allow the use of oversized tires and give it a broad-shouldered look, and a chrome front fascia dresses up the usual Jeep 7-bar grille and round headlights. The CJ7 was also upgraded inside, where the stock vinyl seats are covered in recent two-tone seat covers that can be hosed off and reinstalled. The entire interior has been coated in spray-in bedliner material, so it's ready to enjoy without a second thought about getting dirty inside and again, a garden hose is all you need to make it clean again. The Laredo offers a fairly complete view of the engine, with the dash dominated by the large centrally-mounted speedometer and featuring apparently random array of auxiliary gauges and knobs. This one is pre-wired for the radio of your choice, but you'll probably find that this 4x4 is a lot of fun just the way it is and a soundtrack might be superfluous. The 5-speed shifter and two-speed transfer case lever work in the usual fashion, making it easy to drive regardless of the terrain and that big steering wheel not only looks great but provides great feel for highway driving or rock crawling. For all-weather fun, this Jeep also includes a removable hardtop and matching doors, so foul weather is never a problem; in fact, it might be something to look forward to!For power, it relies on AMC's bulletproof 258 cubic inch inline-six. Torque is the name of the game in off-roading, and you don't want some twitchy, high-strung powerplant when you're inching up a hillside. So with that in mind, this one sticks to the factory recipe for the most part, right down to the original air cleaner. The engine bay is so clean you'll wonder if it's ever seen a day in the mud, and it runs so well you won't be afraid to head out into the wilderness. There's a big aluminum radiator up front that doesn't get hot even when you're creeping along and an upgraded intake manifold helps make some extra torque. Underneath it's impressively clean with all the original hardware pretty much intact, so it's easy to service and parts availability is awesome. A custom exhaust system sounds fantastic and those flashy aluminum wheels wear extra large 31x10.5-15 off-road radials.Nothing fancy, just a rugged, fully-sorted Jeep that's ready to play.
