1986 Jeep Comanche XLS EARLIEST KNOWN Additional Info:

1986 Jeep Comanche XLS. This is the earliest known Comanche to exist. It is serial #831. That's the 831st Jeep built in 1986 of all the models (CJ, Cherokee, Wagoneer, Truck). I have owned it for the past 2 years and since that time myself and a few friends that are Jeep collectors have not been able to find a Comanche with a lower serial number. I have been on Jeep sale sites, forums and have not found any. It is also the lowest serial number on the Comancheclub site. It has been in NJ since the beginning of 2014. It came from Florida and was originally sold at Sanford AMC in Sanford Florida. Still has the dealershipsticker on the tailgate. It came to NJ with 60500 miles on it and now has 61275 miles.
This is an all original XLS version with the longbed. It is a 2wd. This is the same combo that was used in the early advertising for the Comanche. The only things changed have been the tires, battery, brakes and normal maintenance items. The A/C works great and was recharged and serviced3 years ago. It has the original Jeep stamped bedliner with side rails. When I bought it the previous owner had a cap which he had installed. I removed it but was unable to get one of the bolts back in all the way for one of the side rails. The only other issue with the Jeep is that the carpet and headliner are discolored. It appears that the dye somehow came out of the color. The carpet under the original floormats is still the correct color along with the floormats. It is the original carpet. Headliner is intact and not sagging anywhere. The steering wheel, dashpad and seats are near perfect. It has the floorshift automatic with full console. The paint above the steering column is wearing off and turning black. The paint and stripes on the body are excellent and original. There is not rot, rust or dings on the body. The chassis is also rot free and extremely nice. It has power steering and power brakes. It has the 2.8 GM V6 which was the largest engine offered in the 86 models. 1987 is when they went to the 4.0. Has the original Marchel foglights with covers. (one works, the other one does not).
I am listing this Jeep to make room. I am a Jeep collector and have never really been into the Comanche's so I am deciding to list it. I have no problem keeping it. Remember that this is a all original Comanche with 61K original miles and although it is a 2wd it is the earliest known to exist right now. It has all the right stickers in all the right places except for one. The sticker that has the build date on it is not present where it should be and does not appear to have ever been applied there. The catalyst sticker is there but not the other one. A few other people I know with 86 Comanche's do not have the sticker there either. Some of the later ones do. Not sure why.
There is no warranty with this vehicle and it is being sold as is. It runs and drives great and has no issues. Message me with any questions and includea phone number and I will call you back. There is no shipping of this vehicle on my end.
This is a no reserve auction. I can be contacted at 609-529-6188. Thank you.
