Here's the info: the good, nd the stuff that needs a little tlc and attention...
Overall it's a great Jeep. The steering is nice and tight, nd the jeep tracks well on the road. The suspension flexes well and ride is surprisingly good for a CJ. The frame and body are in great unrestored condition, efinitely a survivor. It looks good and has a ton of character. All the lights work, ven the little dash ones. Gauges, urn signals, rake lights, tc. All work.
Probably the most annoying thing about it is 2nd gear. It's sometimes difficult to shift into 2nd. On the other hand, st (low), rd, th, nd reverse shift like new. Sometimes it will drop right into 2nd, ut alot of time it wont. I usually start out in 1st to (bump) the gear cluster in line and once the Jeep rolls for a second it will shift into 2nd. It rarely lets you down shift to 2nd. The more its driven, he better it's getting, f I was guessing I'd say one of the new synchros is just sticking a little. I will include the stock T4 transmission original to the Jeep if the buyer chooses. ( I also have a spare NP435 that has been professionally rebuilt that I may be talked into including.)
It starts right up and runs very well compared to other Jeeps its age. With the HEI distributor it's got a nice hot spark and flooding is almost out of the question. The new mc2150 carb was tuned with a vacuum guage, nd the engine reads a steady 21 vacuum at idle. That being said, 'm good, ut there's always someone better. The carb and or timing may benefit from a little tinkering, ut it runs well for me like it is.
All the right things have been addressed, eplaced, r upgraded. 2nd gear is a bear sometimes but most of the hard work is done and there are a ton of good parts and upgrades on this thing. It's fun to drive once you get used to the gears. It looks old and cool. There is a ton of character to it. It's not too nice to have fun in either. It's old, ot fast by any means, t has big tires, tc. It does not drive like a new car. It also has numerous scratches and some dings and dents, tc. It is geared low, 've never had it on an interstate but I doubt it would be fun. It's great for cruising around and would not be afraid of the trails. Keep in mind it's a 33 year old Jeep.
It only has the bikini top and half doors. I also have a pair of full fiberglass doors for it.It has no heat. The heater core leaked a while back so I just flushed it out and bypassed it. I only drive it on nice days anyways. The parking brake works. The wipers are new and work too.
Has a current NC state inspection and Clean NC title in my name.
I've put a lot of time and money into the Jeep. It's only driven a few times a year, t's time for it to go to someone else who will use and enjoy it.
Since I've owned it, t's never been driven in rain, alt, ud, now, tc.
