1990 Jaguar XJ6 Additional Info:

1990 Jaguar Vander Plas XJ6 with ONLY 9,499 ORIGINAL MILES!
Everything original down to the Pirellis (with the exception of a trunk mounted Kenwood 10-CD Player w/Remote Control).
As PERFECT a car as you will find.

Starting in 1990, the XJ40 series of cars was seriously overhauled. The 3.6L Engine was dropped in favor of the much more powerful 4.0L engine. This gave the car not only a boost in HP to 223, but a massive boost in torque. The cars also gained a "switchable" automatic transmission with a "sport mode" switch enabling a higher-performance shift pattern. This isconvenientoption for your teen-age son to impress his date when he borrows your car and pulls up next to his friends from school (If you let a 16 yr old borrow your Jag, what do you expect?) Also, these cars found a heavily updated electrical system, lock and door handle system and gauges as some of the more noticeable improvements. The XJ6 continued, with inlaid burl walnut wood, full chrome window surrounds and sunroof to name a couple of items.
The Craftsmanship of the "real" wood and leather upholstery in this Jag are as good as it gets. The XJ40 was also the first Jaguar to feature what became a Jaguar trademark, the J-Gate gear selector which offers better control of the automatic transmission. btw - the Sport mode is snappy!
This beautiful car has been stored "inside" a heated garage on concrete for the last 25 years. It hasn't seen rain nor snow....except through the garage door windows.
Impress your friends and associates when you drive up in this sleek, sexy, smooth, sedan - it is a "head turner"!
And, this car is an absolute pleasure to drive.
I am the second owner. The reason for the Rebuilt Title was because the first owner, a Gulf War Army General's wife (could have beenSchwarzkopf...I don't really know)got hit in the rear quarter panel when the car had only 4,200 miles on it. (Hey. Wouldn't you push to have YOUR new Jag totaled if you were a General's wife and it got hit at 4,200 miles? One word...Airstrike!) Anyway, all it took to repair was replacement and the quarter panel.

Report inappropriate contentVery Nice Ride

by Jaguar 4.0 straight 6, used car owner from California | May 4, 2011

My 1990 Jaguar Vanden Plas 4.0 Straight six, is one car once I drove I started thinking all of the rest of the cars I have owned were worthless. I can write about all the great things I am still discovering like the radio has a CB channel 19 setting or the back seat has jet airplane trays. However I feared that the XJ6 would cost mega bucks to drive, the car is huge and the engine could pull a house. The onboard computer is rating the mileage traveling 70 miles per hour at 31 miles per gallon, that was a nice surprise. This car is a keeper...
