1970 Jaguar E-Type Additional Info:

1970 Jaguar E-Type Series 2 OTS. This exceptional car was ordered by and delivered brand new in 1970 to my mother. I was 7 years old. I am an only child and this car is like a sibling to me. My mom loved her Jag and enjoyed it and maintained it until 2005 when she died.At that time, my husband and I became the owners of record, although we still consider it to be her car. It will always be her car, which is why it’s taken us so long to decide to sell it.

She ordered her dream car with factory air conditioning, power steering and a hard top, although, the hard top was rarely, if ever, used. I just remember it being safely stored in our basement. We have the original sales receipt, loan payment booklet, Passport to Service Book and Owners ID plate that came from Jaguar. We also have a Jaguar sales brochure for this car. Also have the Operating,Maintenance and Service Handbook w/USA Vehicle Safety Regulations that came with the car. We have the original jack and a toolkit, but not sure how much o fit is original. We also have receipts for work done to the car since it was purchased.

It was my mom’s fair-weather daily driver for approximately 12 years while living in a small town. Once she moved to a big city, she opted for buying a car she didn’t care much about and garaged her Jaguar to protect it. She would drive it on weekends for fun or special occasions.

It was repainted in 1990, maintaining the original Willow Green color. The engine bay paint is original and the tape lines are well concealed.

The interior was restored in 1998 and the original soft top was replaced, too. This car is very original, including, we think, the original shocks. We were driving it around town recently and when we stopped somewhere we were approached by a an obvious car enthusiast, who was also a mechanic. He quickly began asking questions and wanted to know if he could take a closer look. After several minutes of what seemed to be an extremely detailed inspection, including asking if he could look at the engine, which we allowed,he excitedly said, "this is just a good solid survivor.” Which, we think, sums it up pretty well.

It starts easily, runs smoothly and is a joy to drive. While it doesn't get driven as much as it should, it is started regularly and all fluids are maintained, with the brake and clutch fluids changed annually.

The paint, chrome, and rubber are in very good shape. All gauges, lights and switches work, even the clock!

The hard top appears to be completely original. The head liner looks old and the rubber needs to be replaced, but the paint and chrome are in very good shape.

We obtained a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate for this car in July 2019.
