In exquisite condition and driving very well indeed this Jaguar lives up to its promotional reputation for “grace, space and pace” today, just as it did 30 years ago; simply fabulous. While the mileage cannot be fully documented, it is evident from the condition of this car that miles shown are probably correct. This is a six-digit odometer and showing less than 55,000 miles with a zero suffix it has the driving feel of surety while the title shows the mileage as “exempt.” This tight, nearly-rust free body with no rattles, firm suspension and steering, gives one a confident drive on four new tires. I have to state “nearly rust free” because it must have some somewhere but as you see from the photographs it is amazing!

The engine, the overhead camshaft, straight-six, four-point-two, developed nearly forty years before this car was built, accelerates smoothly and quietly with a nice conservative burble from the twin-exhausts. I recently covered a one-way journey of over 200 miles in one half-day at constant Turnpike speeds (65 to 75 mph) with no signs of overheating, any exhaust smoke, and a respectable 21 miles-per-gallon. The transmission shifts silently like punctuation, a coma, as opposed to a period: Lovely. Very comfortable seating and the driver’s leather seat appears unharmed as you will notice in the picture.

Minor paint chips or tiny battle scars are present but virtually unnoticeable. The rear-right-quarter chrome or stainless steel bumper has a slight smooth bend in it from non-scoring at a contact point possibly on the rubber sometime in history. My photograph reveals it is difficult to see and therefore remains as part of the past. I am currently looking for a radio antenna mast, the motor works fine. A rear light lense has cracked and is not noticeable but I’ll find one. This car looks decades younger than it is!

The rest of the interior boasts a new perfectly installed headlining, perfect door cards, seats, and carpets slightly faded perhaps. The wood dashboard looks perfect, whereas the wood around the gear-shift and seemingly unused ashtrays, has minor cracks as seen in the picture. I’ve deliberated about changing this and decided not to do so as the wood is a perfect match for the dash. The interior fascia black covering that meets the brand new windshield, has no cracks, unmarked without sun-damage. The aroma of wood and leather still abounds today.

The trunk interior, flawless, yet somewhat aged with a patina. The spare wheel well clean and intact. Under the hood the engine bay shows an unmolested, clean dry space.

The electronic sunroof and electric windows work as they should as do the electronic central-locking doors. All the doors shut with a confident ‘clunk’ and all the gaps appear correct. In fact the vehicle VIN number report shows “no problems found” in all 70 categories!

Fly into Key West, have a mini-vacation and drive home in comfort. I’ve just had the engine oil replaced, lube, and air-conditioning recharged. Telephone me (305 509 0110) so I may answer your questions and/or email me to request more photographs.
