I bought this truck late last year with the intention of keeping it at our second home in Louisville, KY. With that goal in mind I spared no expense making sure she was safe, roadworthy, and fun to drive! I had high hopes of visiting all of the bourbon distilleries in this and lots of road trips between Atlanta and Louisville.

I discovered via my mechanic last week that the engine's compression in each cylinder is lower than spec. The Trooper is running and driving just fine but not as powerful as it should be. I am seeing small drops of oil on the ground after every few drives despite the fact that the rear main seal and lower oil pan gasket as well as the dipstick gasket are brand new. Occasionally it will stall on first start up but once warm will run just fine. My options are to rebuild the engine or just buy a crate motor and go from there. I need a vehicle in Louisville ASAP and am just out of time.

In all honesty the Trooper runs and drives nicely. There is something cathartic about driving it with the windows down, and for an intown errand runner or even an occasional commuter it's perfect. I have had it up to 75mph on the interstate and it drives fine but I know the engine will need attention in the future if I want more power.

If you have been wanting to rebuild the great bullet-proof Isuzu 2.6L and are good with vacuum linesthis truck is for you.

If you have the time to order a crate motor, ship back the core, install the new motor, and break it in gently over the next 500 miles post installthis truck is for you.

If you have a rusted out, tired, smelly, dirty, and banged up old Trooper and have the perfect motor but need a very clean, rust free donor with new brakes, strong suspension, a new clutch, and all that stuff abovethis truck is REALLY for you!

If you’re looking for a brand new truck with no issues now or on the horizonthis truck is NOTfor you. I hear the new Toyota Tacoma is really nice.

I have no illusions here that I won’t lose my a$$ on the parts, labor, and time I spent on this truck. I have spent over $4,000 on parts alone not including the original cost of the vehicle or labor, let alone time. The reserve is set below what I spent for parts. Please don’t message asking for bottom dollar or all that – that’s the reserve part of the auction. If I don’t hit my reserve I’ll go down the path of getting a crate engine but then I will likely never sell it. My loss is really your gain in this instance.

Good luck and if I have missed any details you need or you would like more photographs please reach out. Thanks!

I am happy to deliver the Trooper within 50 miles of zip code 30028 for $2/mile. I can assist with shipping if you need it and can hold the truck an extra week at no additional charge until you coordinate logistics with a shipping provider.
