1973 International Harvester Scout Additional Info:

Up for auction is a very original looking 1973 International Scout II 4x4 with 304 v-8, 2 barrel carb, headers, dual exhaust, auto trans, power brakes, and power steering, factory A.C. that runs and drives very well and looks great but I still consider it an on going project. Motor runs great and transmission shifts solid and strong. No major issues with vehicle but still needs a few things so I am listing it as a project. I am located in southern Colorado where we have a drier climate and no salt on roads so rust is absolutely minimal on this Scout. To say it has no rust is ridiculous for an unrestored vehicle in my opinion but even going over the body before paint I only found a couple very small places that rust was cut out and new metal welded in. I found rust on driver side front body mount as can be seen in one picture. Floors are all original as far as I can tell with some very small rust holes only above the mentioned rusted driver body mount. The rest of this Scout is very solid and appears to have very minimal rust. I have not taken carpet out etc...for a complete inspection but looking closely from underneath vehicle I see no other holes in floors etc...Will take pics of any area and email them to you so please ask if there is a certain area you would like to see. This is not a rust bucket like so many I see are. This Scout was sold new at a lot in Canon City Colorado which is only a few miles from where I live. This Scout has been in Colorado its whole life I believe. I purchased the Scout from an individual in Salida Colorado who had purchased it from a person in Canyon City. Not sure how many owners this Scout has had but believe it was probably 3-4 including myself. Scout still has original metal dealer emblem on rear tailgate from the Canyon City dealership. Also when I brought this Scout home it had a Colorado license plate from 1988 last time it was registered before I got it. Scout was recently repainted back to the original orange color from the factory. Two stage professional autotive paint with primer was used. Paint looks good but it is not perfect. This is not a show truck. Vehicle was painted to be used and driven. Paint has bumps and imperfections but still looks good. I get compliments and attention all the time wherever I go. Please be aware tho that paint is not perfect and body is not perfectly laser straight. New 10.50-15 inch all terrain tires with small shackle suspension lift. Engine is freshly painted red because I just had it out and replaced rear main seal and a bunch of other gaskets and seals on engine. Engine runs awesome and sounds good with headers and dual exhaust. Engine starts excellent hot or cold. Nice tone in exhaust sound, not too loud. Replaced freeze plugs as well because they are prone to rust through. New front pump seal on trans as well. Still has a couple small drops under it when parked for awhile but hardly leaks anything. Has new windshield. Wipers work fine and washer system functions as it should. All gauges work including fuel. All lights work except inside courtesy lights. Tur, brake, tail, headlights, license plate light, and reverse lights all work. Air conditioning is not working but appears to be all there and intact. I replaced the condensor with a good used one then had system pressure tested and that's as far as I got. Heater works great. Needs one defrost vent on passenger side but drivers side works fine. Front and rear seats are covered in blue material like rear is in picture and believe they are original. Front seat has cover because blue material is torn and ripped. Other wise seat is intact. Both doors open and close fine. Driver door has a bit of sag but not bad. I actually took door off to inspect and found that upper hinge has a bit of play causing the sag. Both key locks work in doors with key but rear lift gate lock does not work with key. Lift gate itself opens and closes fine and secures if you push on right side a little when twisting handle. Tail gate opens and closes perfect. Windows roll up and down decent. Here is my list of issues with the Scout as to why I am considering it an on going project.....needs the rubber door seals at least, the horn issue addressed, transmission lines need to be ran nicer and maybe a cooler installed, the slight driver door sag, passenger wing window needs a knob part, rear lift gate lock, factory original radio not working, needs rear center seat belts, needs some sort of jack for spare tire changing, rust at driver body mount, has small hesitation onlywhen engine is cold(probably accelerator pump), and needs the one defrost vent as mentioned. Otherwise everything else about Scout is good. It starts every time and has no funny noises or smoke. Trans shifts great. 4x4 works fine as it should. It runs and drives like an old Scout should. It has many new parts not mentioned. This is not a rust bucket or a pile of junk. Has never been wrecked, I see no signs of damage that's been repaired of any kind indicating any major wrecks or accidents. Has all its original body panels as far as I can tell and does not have pounds of body filler on it. I have clear clean Colorado title for vehicle. Vehicle can be inspected anytime prior to purchase. I know I am missing some stuff but feel like this description is getting lengthy. Please message with any questions and I will reply quickly. I believe the market for these Scout's is healthy enough so I am going to list with no reserve. Bid to own it. I don't need to get rich off this Scout but I do have a # in mind I hope to get out of it. If you want to make me an offer or have questions message me. I normally don't end my auctions early but if someone makes an offer that happens to be the # I am looking for out of this Scout then I may adjust listing with the Buy It Now option. Shipping cost and set up is the buyers responsibility. I will assist with shipping any other way I can. I am very reasonable and easy to deal with. I require a $500 deposit into Pay Pal 24 hours after auction ends. Remainder of balance needs to be paid cash in person or bank wire transfer preferred, or something similar, within 7 days of auction ending. No Pay Pal for remaining balance and absolutely no checks of any kind. Again I am easy to deal with and please do not hesitate to message with any questions. Message me for a phone # and we can talk that way as well, thank you.
