1966 International Scout 800 – 152 4x4 RUST FREE!

1966 International Harvester Scout 800 Additional Info:

Selling my Scout. (Heart breaking but we need to) It’s originally out of Arizona. The owner before me was in NJ but it was garage kept and barely used it. Runs great! 4X4 works perfectly as well. Has a little surface rust but comes right off. I never take it out when there’s moisture. Almost ready for paint! Guy before me added the roll bar, redid the brake system, added an after market turn signal, and did some body work. As you can see there’s only a couple dents. He also laid carpet in the interior which I started to remove for paint. Driver side door and tailgate carpet have been removed. The hardtop is not original to this scout and needs a bit of body work and there’s a little rust on the hatch. I added all new glass to the hardtop and seals between the top and body for noise reduction. Clear title.

Other improvements made: New brake lines, shocks, new starter, rebuilt carb, added roll bar, new muffler, new interior ventilation hoses, fixed heater blower, new windshield wiper motors, tubing, and blades, new fuel pump, new front seats, new glass for hardtop roof, new battery and cables, wheels, replaced horn innards and cap, glove box liner, RPM gauge, heater fan, seat belts,

Things it needs: (I included this section because I’m honest and when I bought it 5 years ago, the guy wasn’t with me.) Mechanically it runs great! Starting cold is a normal process for old carbureted vehicles. Pull choke out, pump the gas a few times, turn it over for a few seconds while pumping. Do process one more time and it’ll start every time. Hot start is immediate. Will need a little brake work. Stops great but is pulling a little to the left when braking hard. Driver side window is stuck down but the glass is intact. The driver side gas tank is the functioning tank of the two. I haven’t taken out the passenger side to see why the gas doesn’t flow. I’m assuming it’ll need to be blown out and possibly replaced. Gas gauge works but only moves ¾ up. The speedometer is 10mph fast. (Not that speeding in this little guy is a huge concern) This Scout is located in Iowa. We have a car trailer and can deliver to surrounding states for a fee. Otherwise, shipping is on you to organize.

This is a great truck and just perfect for an easy project that you can drive around now. There’s so many parts available for scouts and great forums to ask questions. Rust is no fun and with it being rust free, it leaves more time for the fun parts of restoration. Ask me any questions you want and I promise to answer to the best of my knowledge.
